Steel-Concrete-Steel Sandwich Composite Walls covers key aspects of steel-concrete-steel sandwich composite walls, including: an analysis and design and their loading carrying capacities when subjected to different loading scenarios, e.g., bending, shear, punching, compression, in-plane and out-of-plane shear, etc.; analyzes the basic resistance of the steel-concrete-steel walls; and covers the use of such structures under particular seismic conditions. Such structures combine the advantages of steel and reinforced concrete structures with wide advantages, e.g., it permits prefabrication, increases the construction efficiency, shortens construction period, saves formwork and manpower, and provides high resistance to blast and impact loads. Steel-concrete-steel sandwich composite walls, as a representative structural element of steel-concrete-steel sandwich structures, have been used as the nuclear shielding walls in the new generation nuclear power plant, shield tunnels in Japan, immersed tunnels, ice-resisting walls for Arctic offshore platforms, shear walls in high-rise buildings. Provides strong first-hand experimental information on steel-concrete-steel walls under different loading conditions Covers design and prediction equations on the resistance of steel-concrete-steel sandwich walls under different loadings Includes finite element models in order to simulate the structural behaviors of steel-concrete-steel sandwich walls under different loading

This book develops several novel foam-filled structures and steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich structures, which provides more alternatives for ensuring the safety of buildings and infrastructures under extreme loading, like impact and blast. In the first part of this book, the aluminium foam- and polyurethane foam-filled structures have been developed for dissipating impact and blast energy. Experimental and numerical studies have been conducted to obtain their behaviours under impact loading. In addition, analytical models have also been proposed to assess their energy absorption performances and facilitate the impact and blast design when using the proposed foam-filled structures. In the second part of this book, SCS sandwich structures with novel shear connectors have been developed and their behaviours under impact and blast loading have been experimentally, numerically and analytical studied. Analytical models for predicting the impact and blast responses of SCS sandwich structures have also been developed. In the third part of this book, a new steel-polyurethane foam-steel-concrete-steel (SPUFSCS) panel (i.e. the combination of foam material and SCS panel) has been developed to achieve a higher impact resistant capacity. Owing to the increasing impact and blast threats on buildings and infrastructures, the studies presented in this book are of significant importance for providing several new solutions for impact and blast enhancement.

Materials and Structures in Cold Regions: The Impact of Low Temperatures on Construction Materials and the Structural Behaviour of Structural Members is based on the latest research undertaken at Tianjin University, P.R. China and National University of Singapore. The book provides detailed experimental research on the influences of low temperatures on the mechanical properties of constructional materials and structural behavior of typical structural members at low temperatures, e.g., beams, columns, and walls. The theoretical and numerical models in the book on structural members at low temperatures simplifies and provides guidelines for structural engineers working on cold-region projects. The book blends the fundamental development of concepts with the practical specification of materials and structures at low temperatures.
