The study specifically involved the relationship between the value the children perceive the parents place on education and the value the children themselves place on education, the relationship between the child's perception of parents helping the child with homework in the elementary and middle school years and the amount of time the child spends on homework in high school, and the relationship between the children's perception of expectations the parents have for him/her and the expectations the children place on themselves. Questionnaires were given to 102 9th graders. The data was analyzed using correlation analyses and a one way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Implications for parents and educators are also noted.
