Paul Vincent Galvin was Chairman of the Board of Motorola, Inc. & one of the most dynamic leaders on the American business scene. THE FOUNDER'S TOUCH is the exciting account of a vast business built from scratch, the story of a man whose life reflected the changing world of the twentieth century. Like Edison, Ford, & Firestone, among others, Galvin could not be contained by the limited horizons of his small midwestern hometown. In 1923, he moved to Chicago to manufacture storage batteries with his brother Joe. A new American society was forming; industry had grown & was growing still. On the wave of radio's popularity, Galvin's small manufacturing company enjoyed a mild success. His limitless energy demanded new outlets, & with his brother & talented associates he developed a radio that could be used in the new motorcars appearing on the highway. Galvin's achievements & the expansion that followed World War II tell the story of Motorola. Galvin's faith in himself & his product earned him the respect of his customers & the loyalty of his employees. His life story is a reflection of America in the twentieth century, a life bound to that giant corporation which still retains "the Galvin touch."

Whether it’s fearful side hugs on one side or sexual abuse on the other, both the culture and the church aren’t doing very well with touch. Singles are staying single longer, dating is wrought with angst over purity, and marriages struggle to not interpret all forms of touch as sexual. Even the Bible seems to have endless rules about not touching things. There is simply no place where touch doesn’t seem threatened or threatening. But a curious thing happens when Jesus comes into His ministry: He touches. Jesus touches the sick and the outcast, the bleeding and the unclean. What could it mean for families, singles, marriages, churches, communities, and the world to have healthy, pure, faithful, ministering touch? Somewhere in the mess of our assumptions and fears about touch, there is something beautiful and good and God-given. As Jesus can show us, there is ministry in touching.

The Bible reveals that the believers’ service to God, including our worship, prayer, fellowship, and work for God, must come from the source of the divine Spirit in our human spirit. Only the service that comes out of this kind of contact and fellowship is the service that God wants, and only this kind of service is acceptable to Him. In The Spirit and Service in Spirit Witness Lee shows that true Christian service is a matter of believers serving, worshipping, contacting, and fellowshipping with the Spirit of God in their regenerated human spirit. To this end we must deny ours self with its natural faculties and contact God, dealing with Him thoroughly and inwardly. Only then can we render service which is from God, which takes God as its source, which relies on God, and which is for God.
