By the act of incorporation, which was accepted at this meeting, the society OF arts was created as a part of the Institute coordinate with the School of Industrial Science. The objects of the Society are to awaken and maintain an active interest in the sciences and their practical applications, and to aid generallyxin their advancement in connection with the arts, agriculture, manufactures, and commerce. Regular meetings are held semi-monthly from October to May. The Society discontinued the publication of the Abstract: qf Proceedings in 1891, and since then has published its proceedings and the principal papers read at its meetings in the Tedmology Quarterly.
