DOWNLOAD EBOOK"The preparation of my Father's biography has been undertaken as a sacred trust. Early in the spring of 1894 he was asked by an old friend for permission to issue a biography with his approval. This my Father declined to do, and, on that occasion, expressed the wish that I should assume the task when his life-work was ended. In reply to my objection that such an undertaking demanded a literary experience that I did not possess, he said: 'I don't care anything about that. What I want is that you should correct inaccuracies and misstatements that it would be difficult to straighten out during my life. You are the one to do this. All my friends will unite on you and give you their assistance. There are many who think they know me better than any one else, and would feel themselves best able to interpret my life. IF you do not do this work there will be many inaccurate and conflicting 'Lives.'" --From the Introduction

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe Life of Dwight L. Moody By His Son William R. Moody Edited by Amazon Best Selling Author, Rev. Allen Smith, M.R.Ed., D.D., Th.D. From a shoe salesman to an internationally known evangelist of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Dwight Lyman Moody was a man among men. He had a simple conversion to Jesus Christ, but ended up with such a great burden for the lost, that he literally saw thousands come to the Lord under his ministry. This book is the fifth book in a series of books by Great Ministers of the past. This series is called LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN CLASSICS, and is published by Lighthouse International Ministries. It includes an Interactive Table of Contents. Many books have been written about D.L. Moody, America's most famous evangelist. No biographer has ever been able to match the depths of this biography written by Moody's son, William R. Moody, as he wrote from the first-hand knowledge that only a son could possess.Sunday night, October 8, 1871, proved to be a changing point in the ministry of this great man of God. At the conclusion of his sermon that evening, he asked the congregation to take what he had said home with them, and to think about it, He would then ask them the next Sunday to make some type of decision. However, that was the night of the Great Chicago Fire. Along with the thousands of people who perished in the fire, most of his congregation died also. This grieved Mr. Moody very much. He had not given his congregation that night an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour. That would never happen again. From that day forth, Mr. Moody gave an invitation at the conclusion of each sermons. His greatest desire was to see souls added to the Kingdom of God.The London Spectator wrote of him saying "Mr. Moody undoubtedly exerted a powerful and stimulating influence, not only on the masses but on many of those who were his superiors in birth, breeding or intellect." You can now find out about Mr. Moody yourself. Use the 'Look Inside' feature to view book contents and don't forget you can download a sample of "The Life of Dwight L. Moody" to your Kindle for free.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKMoody lived solely for the glory of God and for the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the earnest prayer of his family that in this record of his career his life's purpose may be conserved. Mr. Moody was a born teacher. He was also a great learner. His capacity for drawing out information from people with whom he came in contact was marvelous. Early in his public speaking he would gather around him Bible teachers, evangelists, and pastors, secure their best thoughts on some subject upon which he was to speak, and then go directly from such a conference to a meeting to deliver a heart-searching sermon, the actual material for which he had secured from his friends, absorbed, and made his own. In answer to an inquiry how far a young man was at liberty to use other mens thoughts, he replied: "Always give due credit if you can, and if you cant, or if you dont want to mention the mans name, say, Some one has said. Dont be afraid of using other mens thoughts. The chances are that the man you get it from read it in some other form. There is practically very little that is original, and its better to give the best of others thoughts than what is poor, even if it is original." As a preacher D.L. Moody was much criticized from the standpoint of academic homiletics. Nor would any think of defending his preaching method on that ground. But the fact that for thirty-five continuous years, in the centers of culture and of active practical thought in the English speaking world, this self taught preacher drew the greatest audiences which have faced any modern speaker on any theme --- this fact, should suggest to teachers of homiletics that possibly they might learn something from him. Dwight Lyman Moody (1837-1899) was an American evangelist who toured major American and British cities and founded several educational institutions.
