DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from Ross Baptist Church: The First Seventy-Five Years, 1800-1875; The People, the Community This history deals with a church that maintained a tough policy in its efforts to disci pline members of a disorderly society. The judicial proceedings of early Ross Church is documented in the old minutes. There are many names, accusations, charges, trials, and exclusions from membership. It was necessary to use names and charges in order to tell the story that began 200 years ago. The use of names is not an intention to embarrass any descendant living today. The old minutes of the Ross Meeting House were written in the grammatical structure of the old Middle English dialect that was used during the Colonial American Era. Ef forts have been made to retain some elements of the grammar without impairing read ability. We are very fortunate to have another friend, Don Highsmith, to advise and make suggestions in those efforts. It was Don that talked us into this lengthy project. We are still debating on whether to condemn, or thank him for the encouragement. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
