DOWNLOAD EBOOKJust after World War I Bert Brown served his engineering apprenticeship at the Eastleigh Railway Works. Afterwards he and three friends joined Saunders refurbishing bombers For The RAF on the Isle of Wight. Later Bert moved to Supermarine to work with R. Mitchell to build the S6, S6A and S6B Schneider Trophy winning floatplanes. Then he went to Short Brothers at Rochester as Chief Inspector of Flying Boats until the war started. In 1940 Bert was sent to Cambridge as Chief Inspector to run a repair organisation called Sebro that was responsible for repairing and rebuilding the Stirling four-engine bombers. They ended up making airworthy over one thousand military aircraft for both the RAF and USAAF. Sebro was to prove how badly the RAF command had planned for war and aircraft repair. In some ways this is still one of the RAF's failures. Bert developed close relationships with the RAF pilots and his engineers that remained For The rest of their lives. His success was so great that the Germans tried to kill him and destroy Sebro on a number of occasions. Luckily they failed. This book is a tribute to Bert Meakins and all aeronautical engineers who have made and still make flying safer for all of us.

She gets caught in the tail end of it as she heads east toward higher ground. Silas Livingston is a thirteen-year-old boy who lives on a small farm in New Mexico along with his single mom after his father was killed during the Normandy invasion. Silas, an adventurous lad, is climbing Eagle Mountain, a notorious place with many sharp peaks and cliffs. Few people go there because it is so dangerous, but Silas knows every nook and grannie of the mountain. It is on one of these days that he goes high into the cliffs and finds an eagle nest with one egg. Next to the nest lies the dead mother eagle. Silas decides to take the egg home and hatch it in the chicken's incubator. Along with his best friend, Betty Jo, who lives nearby, they hatch the baby eagle and raise it and train it to fly. They name him Solomon. But as the weeks go by, Solomon grows ten times the size of a normal eagle. And living in a small farm town where everyone knows one another, it's only a matter of time before the whole town finds out about Solomon. That's when the real adventure starts. Livestock go missing and the townsfolk blame the giant eagle. Now Silas and Betty Jo have to become junior detectives to find out who the real culprit is. Mystery, adventure, and riding on the back of an eagle fill this story with fun and excitement.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKNew York Times Bestseller: The “extraordinary” true story of a golden eagle adopted by a California ranching family, and how she changed their lives (Delia Ephron). In 1955, Ed Durden brought a baby golden eagle home to his ranch in California, where she would stay for the next sixteen years. As her bond with Ed and the Durden family grew, the eagle, named Lady, displayed a fierce intelligence and strong personality. She learned quickly, had a strong mothering instinct (even for other species), and never stopped surprising those who cared for her. An eight-week New York Times bestseller, Gifts of an Eagle is a fascinating up-close look at one of the most majestic creatures in nature, as well as a heartwarming family story and “an affectionate, unsentimental tribute” (Kirkus Reviews).

DOWNLOAD EBOOKWinner at the 2014 International Latino Book Awards. A stunning picture book about the life of a mute Comanche young boy who brought unity and togetherness among all of the Native American tribes through his magical silent tales. The boy with the feather headdress told stories without saying a word. The boy whose legs formed the shape of a heart communicated with that special language that comes from within. With his hands, his face, his smile and his eyes, he could communicate everything his listeners needed to hear. Walking Eagle’s tales awoke deep emotions, conveyed a sense of solidarity, and created bonds between hands and hearts of different tribes that lasted forever. A magical tale about nature and harmony between the different peoples of the world, reminding us of the power of stories to bring out our very best from within the deepest part of the human soul.
