Plotinus (c.205-70) was a Neoplatonist philosopher, his work posthumously published by Porphyry and divided into six books, nine tractates each, called the Enneads. In this book Majumdar makes a valuable addition to the literature on his work, especially Ennead III.7(45)11-13 - in particular explaining Plotinus' cosmology using the genus-species model of soul, coordinating the literature on the appearance of time and the cosmos with that on the larger issue of Plotinian "emanation" and examining the role of tolma and the restless nature of soul in this conjoint appearance. This book investigates Plotinian "emanation," its laws of poiesis (contemplative making ) and the roles of nature, matter, logos, (rational formative principle) and contemplation and highlights the subtler details of Plotinus' cosmology by disentangling conceptual issues about the nature of soul and self ("we") and their impact on the process of generation of time and the cosmos.

Life is not a sprint; it’s a marathon. These well-known words of wisdom remind us to pace ourselves in the journey of life so we reach the finish line with no regrets. Pacing yourself is not as easy as it sounds. Life tends to take on a pace of its own which when left unchecked, will drive us toward burnout and fatigue. We can easily become driven by care, worry, and ambition rather than led by the Holy Spirit. We may tend to think of burnout as a modern problem, but we can see that people in Jesus’ day felt their own kind of spiritual and emotional fatigue. Why else would Jesus have said these comforting words? Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly (Matt. 11:28-30; The Message). Even though he spoke these words more than two millennia ago, Jesus’ call to rest and peace seem tailor-made to fit this generation. Author Kerri Weems had let the pace and rhythm of her life get out of control. At first the consequences were only physical, but they quickly impacted her spiritual life. Since then, God has been teaching her to walk in time with him; he is teaching her to be led rather than driven. In this book, she opens up her life and shares this journey with the reader. God’s best for each of us is that we go the full distance of our race, and not just crawl exhausted across the finish line. God wants us to enjoy the race and cross the line with our heads held high, a smile on our faces, and our arms lifted in a double fist-punch! Getting to that moment is all about learning the rhythms of grace and pacing ourselves for the long run.

Novak investigates a belief called the Binary Soul Doctrine (BSD) which states simply that humans possess two souls which split at death, the conscious going on to reincarnate again and again, while the unconscious ends up in a type of limbo judging itself for all eternity. He goes on to explain that long ago the BSD was the primary belief of a single world religion, which since has been broken into more and more fragments. However, he claims that twentieth-century findings, including the work of Freud and Jung, as well as findings of modern neuroscience and Near-Death research, has marked a resurgence of belief in the veracity of the BSD. Novak argues--just as those long ago did--that it is essential for humans to integrate these two souls together before death to avoid the nightmare of being split in two at death. He even offers a few steps to help readers start the process of integration.

The path of a wounded healer is determined before birth by our higher selves, guides, angels, and the karmic board. It’s the highest honor and privilege a human can endure in one lifetime. This journey is only summoned for advanced old souls and those strong enough in their spiritual directive to hold the immense energy needed to complete their mission. One must undergo the dark night of the soul which triggers the awakening process. When we evolve through our challenges, we have the power to free hundreds of thousands of people taken hostage by their own shadows, heal generational wounds, clear future legacies for our children, and heal our own karmic debts. Author Sara Bachmeier has personally experienced this process, and she shares her story in The Path of a Wounded Healer. A sequel to her first book, Egyptian Numerology, this new book describes in greater detail the challenges, blessings, lessons, and teachings that all wounded healers are prone to endure and must learn to integrate while traveling on their intended path, purpose, and destiny in this incarnation. In The Path of a Wounded Healer, she helps people understand nothing is random, and everything has purpose and reason. Once you understand the value of your soul-life agreement, you can find peace and determination strong enough to go beyond human limitations and conditions to heal some of life’s most difficult challenges and to help others as they trudge the road on their destined path.
