The Indiana 129th Infantry regiment was organized during the winter of 1863-64, at Michigan City and was mustered in March 1. It left the state on the 30th for Nashville, where it was assigned to the 2nd brigade, 1st division, 23d corps. On April 24 it reached Charleston, Tenn., and moved from there on May 3 to take part in the movement toward Atlanta.
