Excerpt from Record of the Services of Graduates and Non-Graduates of Amherst College, in the Union Army or Navy During the War of the Rebellion At the time of the semi-centennial celebration of the College in 187 I, the undersigned was directed by the Faculty to prepare for publication a record of all graduates and non-graduates who had served in the Union army or navy in the war of the rebel lion, so far as their names and services could be ascertained. This was published in a pamphlet of forty-eight pages, contain ing the names of two hundred and forty-seven. Copies of this were placed in the Library for distribution among the alumni, at the successive commencements following.
