DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from Outline of Church History In the present edition of the Outline of Church History, an effort has been made to adapt it more fully to the needs of the student, of the teacher, and of the general reader, than were the former editions of the work. Some departments have been thoroughly changed. Dates, so far as they can be definitely or approximately known, have been assigned to the tables of the Church Fathers. The chapter in the first edition treating of the latest history of the Church has been canceled, and another, bringing down the history to the present year, has been substituted for it. The Survey of Missions has been entirely re-written, giving the latest progress in the foreign mission fields of the Church. An Index, which was not thought necessary in the first issue of the work, has been found, by the use of the volume, to be a real want, and has been supplied in the new edition. The first summary which we give below, the General Periods of Church History, should be carefully committed to memory, to serve as a framework for the entire structure of Church History. The student will then have in mind a general survey of all the periods, in historical order, with exact dates defining the general divisions.
