As the ambulance sped out of the school parking lot, rumors at Bethany High School were going rampart. The third-hour class bell had just rung and kids were streaming out of their classes. The ambulance's flashing lights and siren could be seen and heard as it transported Doug to Bethany Memorial Hospital. "I heard it was Doug Thomas. I think he is stoned," one student remarked. "We heard he was DEAD!" two sophomores said in agreement. "This won't be the first time Doug has been stoned, but it could be his last time!" a third student chimed into the conversation. Students stood stunned at the event taking place in their school. Students had been aware that Doug and some of his friends had bragged about doing drugs from time to time, but this was bringing a reality to the student body. ********* Lesam and Lejoy, invisible to the surrounding individuals, sat on the top of the lockers in Bethany High. These Ministering Angels sadly heard all the conversations about Doug. They watch solemnly as the students filed into their fourth-hour classes. "Lesam, this is happening more and more often! I feel so helpless for these unsuspecting teens. They have no idea that they are in the middle of a 'Spiritual Battle' between good and evil." Lejoy wiped a tear from her eye. "If only our commands would come down from the Lord." "You know, as Ministering Angels, we are not allowed to intervene until we are directed by God," Lesam lamented. "We have our new Charges, Lesam. We must focus on God's commands for the Stevenson family, now," Lejoy stated. They both sat silently, as the halls began once again to become void of students. The fourth-hour tardy bell rang.
