Excerpt from Monthly Information Bulletin: Number 1-1922; 15 January, 1922 It was designed as a troop transport or freight carrier.. It is a very large triplane, in general appearance similar to the Bristol Pullman, which is an Old type. There are many dissimilarities in detail between the Tramp and the Pullman, and the Tramp has folding wings and considerable sweep back. The under carriage and landing gear are practically the same and the large spoon-shaped tail skid is the same. The Tramp has a biplane tail with three rudders and adjustable horizontal stabilizer; the fins are not ad justable. The arrangement Of the fuselage requires the two pilots to sit in the nose; behind them and in a central engine room com partment are four 260-horsepower Siddeley Puma engines arranged in two tandem pairs, one pair on each side Of the center line. These engines are geared to two large four-bladed propellers located in the leading edge Of the middle plane, one on each side, and driven by geared shaft from the engine room. It is not positively known but is generally believed that the four engines are so fitted with clutches that they may be used in any combination, two driving each propeller or all four driving one propeller or in the various combinations. This plane with the present installation is known to be decidedly underpower, but no figures or estimated performances have been divulged, although as a troop transport they claim capacity of about 35 infantrymen with the requirement. The plane is fitted with four Imber self-sealing petrol tanks suspended in hangers from the top of the fuselage abaft the engine room, each tank Of 80 gallons capacity. It is planned to equip the plane with full radio equipment, including wireless telephone. It is understood that these two planes have been built for a definite Air Ministry order. Excerpt from Bulletin of Information, 1921, Vol. 13: Entered as Second-Class Mail Matter, Tacoma, Wash., Under Act of Congress, August 24, 1912 It is consequently important that such grades be carefully given. They ought to be a sober effort on the part of the institution giving them, to rank the student in relation to his fellows. But this is quite out of the question if the giv ing Of grades be left entirely to the impulse of the teacher. Some teachers are so benevolent they give too high marks; others by high grades might want to attract students to elective courses; while some give subject-matter too elementary for college grade. Any of these or other causes that might enter to make grades too high or too low (though the fault is less frequent with low grade), would tend to make a stu dent's scholastic record a poor index of his ability This in turn would be an obstacle to the would-be employer or others seeking to rate him.
