LE BUT DE CETTE THESE A CONSISTE A ETUDIER NUMERIQUEMENT ET THEORIQUEMENT DES METHODES PARTICULAIRES DETERMINISTES APPLIQUEES TOUT D'ABORD A LA CINETIQUE DES GAZ PUIS AU TRANSPORT DE CHARGES DANS DES CHAMPS ELECTROMAGNETIQUES. ON S'EST INTERESSE, DANS UN PREMIER TEMPS, AU MODELE B.G.K. POUR L'EQUATION DE BOLTZMANN DE LA DYNAMIQUE DES GAZ QUE NOUS AVONS RESOLUE A L'AIDE D'UNE METHODE PARTICULAIRE. CE TRAVAIL A CONSISTE TOUT D'ABORD EN L'ANALYSE MATHEMATIQUE DU MODELE B.G.K., CE QUI NOUS A PERMIS DE DEVELOPPER UNE ANALYSE THEORIQUE COMPLETE DE LA CONVERGENCE DE LA METHODE. DANS UN SECOND TEMPS, NOUS AVONS IMPLEMENTE CETTE METHODE SUR DES MACHINES D'ARCHITECTURE DIVERSES (VECTORIELLE ET PARALLELE). LA DEUXIEME PARTIE A CONSISTE A UTILISER LES METHODES DEVELOPPEES POUR SIMULER L'EVOLUTION DE PARTICULES RELATIVISTES SOUMISES A DES CHAMPS ELECTROMAGNETIQUES. LE MODELE PHYSIQUE UTILISE EST LE SYSTEME DE VLASOV-MAXWELL. LES EQUATIONS DE MAXWELL SONT RESOLUES ICI A L'AIDE D'UNE METHODE DE VOLUMES FINIS ET L'EQUATION DE VLASOV A L'AIDE D'UNE METHODE PARTICULAIRE. ON PRESENTE ENFIN UNE NOUVELLE FORMULATION DES EQUATIONS DE MAXWELL AFIN DE MIEUX VERIFIER, AU NIVEAU DISCRET, LES RELATIONS DE DIVERGENCE POUR LE CHAMP ELECTROMAGNETIQUE. ON MONTRERA, EN ETABLISSANT LES EQUATIONS EQUIVALENTES, POURQUOI CES RELATIONS SONT MIEUX VERIFIEES EN CONSIDERANT CETTE NOUVELLE FORMULATION

This new, third volume of Cohen-Tannoudji's groundbreaking textbook covers advanced topics of quantum mechanics such as uncorrelated and correlated identical particles, the quantum theory of the electromagnetic field, absorption, emission and scattering of photons by atoms, and quantum entanglement. Written in a didactically unrivalled manner, the textbook explains the fundamental concepts in seven chapters which are elaborated in accompanying complements that provide more detailed discussions, examples and applications. * Completing the success story: the third and final volume of the quantum mechanics textbook written by 1997 Nobel laureate Claude Cohen-Tannoudji and his colleagues Bernard Diu and Franck Laloë * As easily comprehensible as possible: all steps of the physical background and its mathematical representation are spelled out explicitly * Comprehensive: in addition to the fundamentals themselves, the books comes with a wealth of elaborately explained examples and applications Claude Cohen-Tannoudji was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris where he also studied and received his PhD in 1962. In 1973 he became Professor of atomic and molecular physics at the Collège des France. His main research interests were optical pumping, quantum optics and atom-photon interactions. In 1997, Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, together with Steven Chu and William D. Phillips, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his research on laser cooling and trapping of neutral atoms. Bernard Diu was Professor at the Denis Diderot University (Paris VII). He was engaged in research at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and High Energy where his focus was on strong interactions physics and statistical mechanics. Franck Laloë was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. His first assignment was with the University of Paris VI before he was appointed to the CNRS, the French National Research Center. His research was focused on optical pumping, statistical mechanics of quantum gases, musical acoustics and the foundations of quantum mechanics.

This memoir attempts at a systematic study of convergence to stationary state for certain classes of degenerate diffusive equations, taking the general form ${\frac{\partial f}{\partial t}}+ L f =0$. The question is whether and how one can overcome the degeneracy by exploiting commutators.

Proceedings of a workshop, the scientific reviews and the contributed papers presented at the symposium. The document presents a brief historical summary of marine research in the Gulf; reports the discussions, conclusions and recommendations of the different working groups on oceanography (physics, biology, chemistry and sedimentology) and on the fishery (fish and invertebrates); then presents the discussions of each multidisciplinary working group, centered around how the St. Lawrence system may be used as a natural laboratory which will contribute to the solution of major long-term problems of conservation of natural resources and of the quality of the environment.
