DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book presents a bold, new invention - the Computerized Job Market (CJM) - that could, in the future, come to replace the labor market as we and our forebears have known it since the industrial revolution. James Cooke Brown, who also invented the popular board game Careers, first introduced CJM's in his science fiction book The Troika Incident. The Job Market of the Future is written in a non-academic, non-technical style and is set in the not-too-distant future - in a world that we will very likely see if the present course of unhindered, reckless "globalization" continues. The author presents the case for his CJM model; how it will be constructed; the built in safeguards for both individuals and society; how it will operate for the end-user; and what the long- and short-term economic, social, and political benefits will be. Ultimately, this book is not about problems or policy issues; it is about finding a permanent answer to the most important long-term problem that faces everyone on Earth: finding and keeping a quality job with a "living wage."

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe growing importance of the systems for symbolic computation has greatly influenced the decision of organizing DISCO '90 which is short for International Symposium on Design and Implementation of Symbolic Computation Systems. DISCO '90 focuses mainly on the most innovative methodological and technological aspects of hardware and software system design and implementation for Symbolic and Algebraic Computation, Automated Reasoning, Software Environments (Languages and User Interfaces), and Automatic Programming. In particular, it includes papers on the design and the development of significant running systems. The general objective of DISCO '90 is to present an up-to-date view of the field, while encouraging the scientific exchange among academic, industrial and user communities of the development of systems for symbolic computation.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis volume contains the papers, updated in some cases, presented at the first AISMC (Artificial Intelligence and Symbolic Mathematical Computations)conference, held in Karlsruhe, August 3-6, 1992. This was the first conference to be devoted to such a topic after a long period when SMC made no appearance in AI conferences, though it used to be welcome in the early days of AI. Some conferences were held recently on mathematics and AI, but none was directly comparable in scope to this conference. Because of the novelty of the domain, authors were given longer allocations of time than usual in which to present their work. As a result, extended and fruitful discussions followed each paper. The introductory chapter in this book, which was not presented during the conference, reflects in many ways the flavor of these discussions and aims to set out the framework for future activities in this domain of research. In addition to the introduction, the volume contains 20 papers.
