DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from Furniture, 1908-1909: Including Everything for the Home, Office and Hotel Only you who have gazed with admiration on the works of man as portrayed St. Louis in 1904 and have marveled 'at the mammoth palaces constructed after years endless toil and who have appreciated the vast amount of energy, brains and money needed to build such an Exposition - only you can realize what an enormous undertaking it must be to successfully pull down these works of art and to place the material in condition so that it can again be utilized. At the close of the St. Louis World's Fair our company became the owners of the entire Exposition. We locked the gates on the night of December lst, 1904, and entered absolutely into possession of that beautiful White City. We owned the fish in the lagoon and the very birds in the air. The fire departments and the office furniture, the buildings, the pipe in the ground, the magnificent furnishings. All the stately statuary and even the trees. Every part and parcel of the great Louisiana Purchase Exposition was ours absolutely. What to do with such an immensity would stagger the imagination and tax the ingenuity of any one. But our systematized business, perfected by years of careful training and previous experience placed us in possession of wisdom sufficient to properly cope with such an undertaking.
