Sudden paralysis is a circumstance no one wishes to get intimately familiar with, but such tragedies do unfortunately occur. In my own experience, I've learned that a mother will search desperately for the tools of education whenever they're required, but when my son was involved in a life-changing accident, I could find no shared experiences written of by another parent. After living through the experience of the accident's aftermath and the many months of rehabilitation, I was eventually able to sit down and put words onto paper in the hope that another mother would one day find my experience helpful during their own times of learning and searching. That immediate past so suddenly lost, without preparation of any kind, brought my old son into focus at the same time as my mind was trying to meet the new one-who was in many ways a stranger based on the physical limitations and changes now present in his life. During this time is when I met the ghost-- and the handsome man in the wheelchair. I was determined to do so positively, but had no instruction book on the new parenting needs. We learned together, all of us who loved my son, and I can now see that part of the lesson is that the ghost leaves us in his own time as we learn to let him go. There is no one-means or one-method lesson book. I have tried as honestly as I can to share my experience as a mother. My attempt is supported by my courageously inspiring son who was the motivator and teacher in many ways and by his younger brother who shared commitment and devotion with me. At the end of our story-which is truly a beginning of another-our lives are full and blessings continue to enrich our times together. The goal of this book is that the reader will find something that will take them through Hell Week to the start of their loved one's new life with more hope and confidence. Many have contributed to our progress; I hope I may contribute to the hopefulness of others in similar circumstances.

"First time Canadian author, Kim Teresa Oshiro opens the door and walks the reader along a new road where the alphabet has not yet travelled with her children's book A B C in Harmony. Written with lyrically poetic, vocabulary rich words and rhyming verse, the letters are easy to recall, while being infused with powerfully positive messages. With countless ABC books encircling our planet, this is the first ever that encompasses the global community with the universal message of love. ""Every child shares centre stage in my book,"" Oshiro says ""ABC in Harmony reveals how all children can become the architects that co-create the world in harmony, balance and love. Every child is born with an innate talent and unique gift that defines them and when inspired in a positive light by us, they can ultimately enhance the world by sharing their invaluable gift."" In the heart of humanity, people share the same vision- we all want the best for our children and to see them succeed in life. Our wish is made possible in A B C in Harmony. The children get their hands in the pie as they play their key roles in environmental stewardship on our planet; touching on animal welfare, global unity, the importance of courtesy, consideration, manners and respect. Children are fuelled by compassion, empathy, perseverance, goal-setting, kindness, faith, responsibility and ultimately, the awareness of their treasured gift to humanity. Timely and touching, ""A B C in Harmony"" has been read in the classroom as part of Anti- Bullying Day in Strong Start. The organization Kids Need to Read in Mesa, Arizona has recently made A B C in Harmony a part of their READ Together program and The Mission School District will be having the book as part of their Ready Set Learn Program. Kim Teresa Oshiro and her son, Matthew live close to the mighty Fraser River in Mission, British Columbia. Over the years, they have happily shared their home with a menagerie of family pets."
