He was a key executive with the National Retail Hardware Association for decades, retiring in 1987 as senior vice president. He claims to have visited more than 10,000 hardware stores, lumberyards and home centers-which is probably understated. He continues to observe and write about the industry for a number of international hardware/home center publications.
