DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe generalized area of multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) can be defined as the body of methods and procedures by which the concern for multiple conflicting criteria can be formally incorporated into the analytical process. MCDM consists mostly of two branches, multiple criteria optimization and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). While MCDA is typically concerned with multiple criteria problems that have a small number of alternatives often in an environment of uncertainty (location of an airport, type of drug rehabilitation program), multiple criteria optimization is typically directed at problems formulated within a mathematical programming framework, but with a stack of objectives instead of just one (river basin management, engineering component design, product distribution). It is about the most modern treatment of multiple criteria optimization that this book is concerned. I look at this book as a nicely organized and well-rounded presentation of what I view as ”new wave” topics in multiple criteria optimization. Looking back to the origins of MCDM, most people agree that it was not until about the early 1970s that multiple criteria optimization c- gealed as a field. At this time, and for about the following fifteen years, the focus was on theories of multiple objective linear programming that subsume conventional (single criterion) linear programming, algorithms for characterizing the efficient set, theoretical vector-maximum dev- opments, and interactive procedures.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKDeterministic and stochastic control systems with aftereffect are considered. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the optimality of such systems are obtained. Various methods for the construction of exact and approximate solutions of optimal control problems are suggested. Problems of adaptive control for systems with aftereffect are analyzed. Numerous applications are described. The book can be used by researchers, engineers, and graduate students working in optimal control theory and various applications.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe book is devoted to the topological fixed point theory both for single-valued and multivalued mappings in locally convex spaces, including its application to boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations (inclusions) and to (multivalued) dynamical systems. It is the first monograph dealing with the topological fixed point theory in non-metric spaces. Although the theoretical material was tendentiously selected with respect to applications, the text is self-contained. Therefore, three appendices concerning almost-periodic and derivo-periodic single-valued (multivalued) functions and (multivalued) fractals are supplied to the main three chapters.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis is the first volume of a collection of articles dedicated to V.G Maz'ya on the occasion of his 60th birthday. It contains surveys on his work in different fields of mathematics or on areas to which he made essential contributions. Other articles of this book have their origin in the common work with Maz'ya. V.G Maz'ya is author or co-author of more than 300 scientific works on various fields of functional analysis, function theory, numerical analysis, partial differential equations and their application. The reviews in this book show his enormous productivity and the large variety of his work. The scond volume contains most of the invited lectures of the Conference on Functional Analysis, Partial Differential Equations and Applications held in Rostock in September 1998 in honor of V.G Maz'ya. Here different problems of functional analysis, potential theory, linear and nonlinear partial differential equations, theory of function spaces and numerical analysis are treated. The authors, who are outstanding experts in these fields, present surveys as well as new results.
