Don’t Call Me Angel By: Natalie M. Monet Don’t Call Me Angel started one night as the author was writing in her journal. She was moved to expose Satan and how he plays his games. She wishes for the world to see the true face of Satan and how he works in an individual’s life to pull them into darkness and control them. I am saying I am Angel of God and that I want to see how Satan is working in your life. The night Natalie finished her book, Saint Michael was standing at the end of her bed, guarding her. She told him, you don’t have to babysit me, I’m fine. Her entire bed was shaking and she shouted out, “Knock it Off”! It was the Angels telling Michael and her that God wants to acknowledge her and her book. She found herself standing before God. He was the size of the tallest building you ever seen. He placed one finger on her head, for her to bow. A crown was placed on her head. She found herself back in room. She wanted to ask her Father a question. She was then standing next to his ear. She asked him a question in a whisper. He just laughed and said yes. But suddenly found herself in Heaven, standing before God. He placed a finger on her head and pushed her down to bow before Him. She felt a crown placed on her head. She was back in her room and wanted to ask her Father a question. Then she was next to His ear, asked the question, and He just laughed and said “yes.”

From her childhood under a military dictatorship to the Middle East how did Laura end up in the Persian Gulf War? The story begins in a Latin American dictatorship of the 1970's and concludes after a dramatic rescue attempt in the Middle East during the Persian Gulf War. The three principal characters are strong and liberated women whose lives and stories begin to unfold when we meet them living under the strict rule of a military regime. They are Adela, the mother, and her daughters, Marta and Laura. Their lives as women in the fight for human rights and democracy, as depicted in this work, is not uncommon in this setting of violence and abuse which has been present since the time of the conquest. In a testimonial voice, the characters tell their stories throughout the novel about the brutality of the dictatorship, the love that keeps them alive, and the spirituality inherited from their Incan ancestors. This spirituality is a gift that allows them to see things on a different plane, separate from the physical events they actually witness.

After leaving home in the summer of 84', I found myself knee deep in the drug scene. While there I found what would be my Savior. I did not "see" him at first; I heard him, or his boots that is. Snake skin cowboy boots with shiny silver taps, tips, and all. Just thinking about those boots now gives me a feeling I can't describe. They made a very distinct sound; like a small horse parading, not the normal kind, the ones that dance. He was very particular about his boots, matter of fact, he was very particular about everything. He had many boots and many rules. Following the rules was something I tried hard to be good at. The consequences for breaking those rules became more unpredictable and brutal over time. Easy, as he was known on the streets, was a Pimp and he said I was his Number One. My guess is now, all of us thought we were his number one. As the years went by things changed, but not for the better. I thought of escape, escaping him and everything he did. We all grew to know, death may be the only escape.

Angela Hogan is a pilot. A good pilot, and one of the few female flying aces of the 1930s. Struggling to make a living while the Great Depression rages, Angela has no problem running a small business and competing with men who believe a woman’s place is in the home. She has a plan to bring in business. All she needs to do is break the record for flying from Newfoundland to Havana, and that’s exactly what she plans to do. But when a competing air freight company threatens her livelihood, Angela has no choice but to hire a hotshot pilot with a reputation for setting records in the air and being a lady’s man on the ground. Jack Clancy doesn’t like bossy women. He prefers blondes with more beauty than brains, but he takes the job at Hogan Air Freight in order to save enough money to ship his own plane back to the States and get it the repairs it needs. He tries to tell himself that’s the only reason, even as he is drawn inexplicably to Angela Hogan. The female pilot and her determined attitude bother Jack, but that doesn’t stop him from fantasizing about what lies beneath that prim and proper exterior, even as she squares off to fight him at every turn. Soon Jack and Angela’s shared passion for flying turns into a passion for one another. But Jack has no intention of becoming tied to a woman like Angela and having his wings clipped. And Angela has no intention of leaving the flying to the men so she can become a homemaker. She intends to finish what she started and break the record for the flight she had planned, even when it turns out that the record she’s breaking belongs to Jack Clancy.
