DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from Catalogue of the Heralds' Visitations: With References to Many Other Valuable Genealogical and Topographical Manuscripts in the British Museum IT was the object of the following compilation to form an exact and convenient reference to the Copies of the Heralds' Visitations in the British Museum. To consult any particular Visitation, it was hitherto necessary to exa mine each reference given in the Indexes to the different Catalogues, and the inquirer was consequently obliged to make many searches, in several folio volumes, before he could discover which manuscript contained the information he required. This triļ¬ing arrangement, which was first offered to the notice of Antiquaries as an Index to the Heralds' Visitations in the British Museum, it is presumed, by removing that inconvenience in some degree facilitated genealogical researches, and saved considerable trouble to those interested in that pursuit. The rapid sale of the first edition of this little work has encouraged its editor to offer a second impression to the notice of the public, in which such corrections and extensive additions have been made, as will, he hopes, render it still more deserving of attention. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work.
