DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis publication updates the gender profile of Botswana published in 2000. It highlights the achievements and challenges facing the country in the quest for gender equality. It shows that despite the considerable achievements of one of African's most successful countries, poverty still disproportionately affects women, and gender is not sufficiently taken into account in mainstream policies and planning. It further assesses the progress of the country to improve gender equality in the context of the adoption of the Beijing Platform for Action and the SADC Gender and Development Declaration.
