Nearing graduation from Phoenix Indian School,Peterson Zah decided he wanted to attend college. He was refused the reference letters needed for college admission by teachers who told him he would fail and thus embarrass them. Several years later, these instructors would receive invitations from Zah to a party celebrating his graduation from Arizona State University. And so began a career that took Zah to the presidency of the Navajo Nation. His life and accomplishments have exemplified the ongoing efforts by American Indian communities to gain greater control over their lives and lands. He has made important contributions in many areas, but education has always been one of his main priorities. Perhaps no one in the Southwest has done more than Peterson Zah to increase the recruitment, retention, and graduation of American Indian students from colleges and universities. Zah's presentations to Peter Iverson's classes at Arizona State University, employed examples drawn from his own experiences. Students praised his thoughtful, honest and direct observations. He reinforced a central theme in Iverson's classesthat Indian history encompasses triumph as well as tragedy and victory as well as victimization. This book grew out of Iverson's determination to share Zah's insights with a wider audience. The two met every few months to consider many subjects related to Zah's life. These sessions formed the foundation for this volume. Part autobiography, part interview, and part conversation, Zah and Iverson's account touches on a wide range of overlapping topics, but two central themes prevail: education and empowerment. We Will Secure Our Future is a fascinating look into the life of a man who became a respected visionary and passionate advocate for his people.

PER WORD Ancestors said, “Beginning is half done.” he said. We started writing this book in 2017. It took four years to complete the other half. Because the process being explained was difficult. Of course, it would not be easy to turn it into a book. Peyami Safa, “Easy life is short.” he said. It doesn't matter if it's late or difficult, as long as it lasts a long time. The people of Kuşulu had experienced and realized a first in the history of Turkish and world democracy. The fight was tough but ended in victory. The value of a victory is directly proportional to its difficulty. It was a difficult and necessary task to write down this victory so that it would survive for many more years. Challenging tasks are actually good. Hazrat Mevlana said, “You say it is difficult. "It will be difficult so that it will be a test." he said. It was a test. It all happened together. What a beautiful sight, the owner of thousands of efforts In fact, with this victory, the Nulls won not only a municipality, but many victories. It was a struggle in which everyone who did not want Kuşu to become a village was happy, proud, emotional, and sometimes shed tears of sadness and sometimes of joy. Ask the municipality back They were right to do so and they got their rights. Nowadays, every home has a television. People spend an average of three hours a day in front of television. Most of this time is devoted to TV series. In our country, nearly a hundred new TV series start broadcasting at the beginning of each season. TV series and their effects on people are a subject that requires separate research, discussion and precautions. At the beginning of each episode in TV series, it is stated that “All characters and events in this series have nothing to do with real people or institutions. It is completely imaginary. "No living creatures were harmed during the filming of the series." is written. In this book, written to explain the victory of the Kuşulu people and to pass it on to the future; All characters and events have to do with real people and institutions. It was completely experienced and all the events described are real. No living being was harmed during the struggle described in the book. Not a single element of crime took place and no criminal case occurred. This book was written to fully and accurately describe the struggle for the return of the legal personality of Kuşu town, which took place after the town of Kuşu in Simav district of Kütahya province was transformed into a village, and to carry it to the future. It was carried out democratically, politically and legally by the "Kuşu No Village Platform" founded by Kuşulu people and lasted for four years. This book was written to explain the efforts and victory of the people of Kuşulu for their municipality; From the posts, news and statements of the source people on the social media pages of Kuşu Köy Olmasın Platform mu, which are still accessible on the internet. 6 | DIRISH BIRD No Bird Village Platformin Compiled from. What does it say, the Ottoman Sharia law that was in force before the Civil Code in Mecelle: “For example "There is no precedent." For this reason, the bad examples experienced in the process were not mentioned. There is always a risk of losing data such as information, documents, photos and videos in the internet environment, called the virtual world. We also tried to deliver our book to readers in the form of electronic books or e-books in the increasingly digital environment today. We recorded what happened during the struggle of the Kuşulu people and aimed to increase the narrative with some videos published on the internet. we did. To do this, all you need to do is download a QR code reading program to your smartphone or tablet. If you have the app or after downloading it, point the camera of your phone or tablet towards the code. The QR code will automatically recognize the QR code. The link that appears will direct you to the relevant video. This struggle, which is the joint effort of the people of Kuşulu, "is a trust that contains official data that must be carried into the future." Since no work has been done to carry this trust into the future so far, some official correspondence and petitions can be given as attachments at the end of the page, but it is preferred to be presented to the reader in places where the events are explained. It was not easy for the people of Kuşulu to start, continue and successfully complete this struggle by prioritizing unity and solidarity. Therefore, it was not easy to turn it into a book. Even though it took four years, thankfully we were finally able to complete and publish it. There are many hidden heroes who contributed to this struggle, which was initiated and carried out by the No Village Platform and resulted in victory. Some with their hands, some with their tongue, some with their material possessions, some with their spirituality, some with their knowledge, some with their interest, some with their With their hopes, some with their efforts, some with their hearts, some with their hearts, some with their intentions, some with their prayers, some with their dreams, they took sides in favor of Kuşu not being a village. Those who contributed and supported, sometimes from far away, sometimes from very close, sometimes from the realm of secrets, for the writing, completion and publication of this book; A prayer that has been prayed for, a prayer that has been answered, a secret that cannot be revealed and a secret source of inspiration, and thanks to the heroes, may they exist, I am glad they exist. The people of Kuşulu have a message to all humanity about seeking their rights by being right. Muammer GÖKALP | 7 His exemplary struggle is described in chapters in our book. This method was preferred to explain the struggle completely and as a whole. Dozens of meetings held by Kuşulu people for four years without deviating from the line of courtesy, Considering that the meeting, application, contact and request are just a part and explaining only a part of it would be an extremely incomplete and erroneous explanation and would also be considered a betrayal of the trust that will be transferred to the future. I think it would be the most accurate evaluation to evaluate the purpose of this book, which we are trying to explain, from this perspective. The definition and purpose of the Kuşu Köy Olmasın Platform, which carries out and coordinates this struggle in which the people of Kuşulu wrote the epic of democracy, could not be fully and accurately understood by many people for a long time. That's why, in the beginning, everyone defined the platform in very different ways and assigned different missions. The Kusu No Village Platform has repeatedly presented its definition and purpose to the public on its own page. Actually! What was the topic? Don't let it be a village. Actually! What was the Purpose? Don't let it be a village. Actually! What was Ümit? Don't let it be a village. The people of Kuşulu had a common problem. They searched for a cure for this problem with the Bird No Village Platform they founded. Actually! When was the platform founded? It was founded at a time when almost everyone said "there is no cure for this problem". Actually! When was the platform founded? “Now it has become law, we are a village. “There is nothing that can be done.” It was established when it was said. At a time when hopes were almost gone, Kuşu Köy Olmasın Platform was established to seek a cure for this "cureless affliction". It is important to look for a cure for the problem. However, understanding and explaining the point of view and the problem correctly is the most important thing on the way to the cure. 8 | DIRISH BIRD No Bird Village Platformin It is one of the elements. Throughout the struggle, it was observed that the most important problem was in the concepts of "correct self-expression and correct understanding". Although the "Kusu No Village Platform" repeatedly presented its purpose to the public verbally and in writing, unfortunately it was not fully and correctly understood for a considerable period of time. Everyone has defined, labeled, described and tried to explain the struggle in their own way. Even a calf was searched under the ox, so to speak. For this reason, the struggle that took place for a while was not only not understood correctly, but was also misunderstood and interpreted. When understood correctly, victory has already been achieved. This struggle is not a rebellion. The struggle of the people of Kuşulu is not a political or ideological movement. This struggle is not a resistance. The struggle of the people of Kuşulu is not mere stubbornness. Maybe it can be defined as civil disobedience. Kuşulu people have written their names in history in golden letters and have carried out their struggle with a conscious strategy. They have set a good example of the concepts of taking intention, unity-togetherness, being hopeful, patience and working with prayer. There are exemplary and educational aspects in the struggle of the Kuşulu people. That's why we attach great importance to conveying the struggle of the Kuşulu people to our children and young people, who are the guarantee of our future, through this book, and we are happy about it. We also hope that this book will raise awareness about concepts such as “good citizen”, “conscious citizen” and “the power of information”. Our Prophet said, "He who remains silent in the face of injustice is a mute devil." With the hadith of Hz. Ali (r.a) said, "Do not bow down to injustice, because you will lose your honor along with your rights." The phrase describes the attitude that an honorable person should adopt. Hadiths and the ways they show are important and valuable as they shed light on all of us. We cannot know how many people read these hadiths and question themselves. What we know is that people who are subjected to injustice seek their rights and do not remain silent in the face of injustice. However, justice must be sought by being right. You should not be put in an unfair position when you say you are seeking justice. Rights must be sought by expressing oneself correctly, taking into account many values such as state laws, social rules, customs, traditions and customs. There is not a single element of crime in the struggle of Kuşulu people between 2013 and 2017. Destroy by staying right, without burning Muammer GÖKALP | 9 They sought and obtained their rights without breaking, breaking, spilling, harming any person or institution, or causing any legal case. We hope that this struggle, which we consider to be a very good example for all humanity, will guide our children and young people in their struggle for life throughout their lives. The struggle of the Kuşulu people, carried out by the No Villages Platform, is a struggle for unity and solidarity as well as a struggle for the return or non-return of the municipality. It is a struggle between individual interests and the common good. In the public interest It is a struggle of individual interests. It is the struggle between hope and despair. It is the struggle between common sense and discord and corruption. It is the struggle between patience and impatience. It is the struggle between good words and wishes and bad and evil words. It is the struggle between good prayer and curse. It is the struggle between working hard and being idle. Beat the past It is a struggle to be hopeful about the future, despite the pain and cursing. It is the struggle between loyalty and disloyalty. This book is also a testament that our children and young people are bequeathed to be united for well-being, to struggle patiently, to be hopeful, to strive without giving up, and to act with blessings instead of curses. Two hundred and fifty, three hundred years before the emergence of the concept of state in the western world, Sheikh Edebalı said to Osman Gazi, "O son, let the people live so that the state can live!" The advice he gave became the perspective and style he adopted when explaining his problems to the state officials, including the legislature, executive and judiciary, throughout the struggle of the Kuşulu people. The period described in this book is the most critical and depressive period in the history of Kusu. I hope that the events that took place between 2012 and 2017 will not happen again and that the victory of the Kuşulu people will be turned into a movie through this book and shared with more people. 10 | DIRISH BIRD No Bird Village Platformin I respectfully greet my dear readers and wish them a good reading. I wish God's mercy to all those who passed away, who chanted the slogan "Kuşu Should Not Be a Village" and who worked hard to regain the municipality of Kuşu and passed away to the afterlife. “For the Oghuzs, no matter which direction they go, the victory they will achieve is Red Apple before it is achieved!” For the people of Kuşulu, the town is "KIZILELMA". With greetings, love, respect, prayers and everlasting conversations... Muammer GÖKALP
Dr Noeleen Heyzer is the Institute of Policy Studies' 10th S R Nathan Fellow for the Study of Singapore. This book is an edited collection of her three IPS-Nathan Lectures, delivered in November and December 2021, and includes highlights of her question-and-answer segments with our audience.Dr Heyzer examines how Singapore can continue to contribute to multilateral governance amid 21st century global challenges. Highly dependent on multilateral governance, Singapore has to engage the region and contribute to the multilateral global order. Dr Heyzer highlights the need for Singapore to build a mindset of 'solidarity as self-interest', contribute to a normative future that is equitable, inclusive and sustainable, and rethink our current multilateral governance framework. What does a renewed multilateralism look like? Can Singapore become an epicentre for this new multilateralism? And critically, how can we secure our common future and shape what we become as a nation? The IPS-Nathan Lecture series was launched in 2014 as part of the S R Nathan Fellowship for the Study of Singapore, named after Singapore's sixth and longest-serving president. It seeks to advance public understanding and discussion of issues of critical national interest for Singapore.

From former Republican Congressman and CIA Officer Will Hurd, a bold political playbook for America rooted in the timeless ideals of bipartisanship, inclusivity, and democratic values. It's getting harder to get big things done in America. The gears of our democracy have been mucked up by political nonsense. To meet the era-defining challenges of the 21st century, our country needs a reboot. In American Reboot, Hurd, called "the future of the GOP" by Politico, provides a clear-eyed path forward for America grounded by what Hurd calls pragmatic idealism--a concept forged from enduring American values to achieve what is actually achievable. Hurd takes on five seismic problems facing a country in crisis: the Republican Party's failure to present a principled vision for the future; the lack of honest leadership in Washington, DC; income inequality that threatens the livelihood of millions of Americans; US economic and military dominance that is no longer guaranteed; and how technological change in the next thirty years will make the advancements of the last thirty years look trivial. Hurd has seen these challenges up close. A child of interracial parents in South Texas, Hurd survived the back alleys of dangerous places as a CIA officer. He carried that experience into three terms in Congress, where he was, for a time, the House's only Black Republican, representing a 71 percent Latino swing district in Texas that runs along 820 miles of US-Mexico border. As a cyber security executive and innovation crusader, Hurd has worked with entrepreneurs on the cutting edge of technology to anticipate the shockwaves of the future. Hurd draws on his remarkable experience to present an inspiring guide for America. He outlines how the Republican party can look like America by appealing to the middle, not the edges. He maps out how leaders should inspire rather than fearmonger. He forges a domestic policy based on the idea that prosperity should be a product of empowering people, not the government. He articulates a foreign policy where our enemies fear us and our friends love us. And lastly, he charts a forceful path forward for America's technological future. We all know we can do better. It's time to hit "ctrl alt del" and start the American Reboot.
