Experts on elementary-particle physics, both theorists and experimentalists, met to present their latest results on the various aspects of HERA physics, specifically, the H1 and ZEUS collaborations at HERA and the collaborations at LEP and the Tevatron were presented. The topics included: proton structure function; polarized "ep" scattering; final states in deep-inelastic scattering (DIS), with special emphasis on jet production at low x, power corrections in DIS, soft particle production, and instanton effects; photon structure function; photoproduction of jets and hadrons; heavy-flavour and charmonium production; elastic and diffractive ep scattering; and new physics at HERA.
The workshop aimed to gather the electron scattering community to assess the present status of the experimental and theoretical research program at the electron scattering facilities that will be available in the near future. The topics discussed include nucleon form factors and deep inelastic structure functions, electro-production of nucleon resonances, final state interactions and nucleon-nucleon correlations in nuclei, electron-nucleon scattering with polarized beams and targets and nuclear transparency.

The Fourth International Workshop on New Worlds in Astroparticle Physics was the latest in the biennial series, held in Faro, Portugal. The program included both invited and contributed talks. It has been more than a decade since new elementary particles were discovered. To recognize the findings of scientists in this still fairly new but exciting and promising area of research, the Trieste Workshop was organised in May 1992 to discuss the status and explore the prospects for the discovery of new elementary particles using the full variety of search methods which are, or will be available to the physicist. All papers in this collection of proceedings are reviews written by experts in their own area of speciality. Many review papers based on experimental findings are also included. To present a clearer and more coherent overview, a theoretical overview talk as well as a summary talk have been included to serve as a link between the various areas that were discussed in the papers. This collection of papers is perhaps the first authoritative source ever published on the search for new elementary particles.
