This specification was officially adopted by the Federal Specifications Board on February 3, 1922, for the use of the departments and independent establishments of the Government in the purchase of iron-oxide and iron-hydroxide paints. The date on which the technical requirements of this revision of this specification became mandatory for all departments and independent establishments of the Government was September 2, 1925. The changes included in this revision were authorized by the Federal Specifications Board and promulgated in a circular letter on above revision date.
