This bulletin traces the movement in Wisconsin for the establishment of schools having for their special object the preparation of teachers for country schools from the early 1890s through to the 1916 establishment of training schools in Racine and Juneau Counties. Contents include: (1) an historical statement; (2) the current county training-school law; (3) the provision of buildings for county training schools, by county; (4) the teachers in the training schools, including principals; (5) the one- and two-year courses of study, and the subjects covered; (6) the students, including some county normal statistics; (7) the graduates--some statistics, as well as county superintendent input on the work done by the graduates; (8) the work of the county training schools outside of the training of teachers, and the rationale for these duties; (9) the advantages of the training school as an institution for training country teachers; (10) some suggestions for improving the work of the county training schools; and (11) Other institutions in Wisconsin preparing teachers for country-school work--normal schools and high schools.
