Dietrich von Hildebrand, widely regarded as one of the great Catholic philosophers of the 20th century, is well-known for his numerous books, but, until this present work, not much has been known of his remarkable and inspiring life. Written by his wife, Alice, also a highly respected Catholic thinker, this is a fascinating, moving and, at times, gripping account of a truly great man of the Church who suffered much for the faith. Based on a very long "letter" Dietrich wrote to his wife late in his life, it tells his story from his glorious youth with a unique intellectual and cultural formation, his coversion to Catholisism, his great passion for truth and beauty, his extensive writing on Christian philosophy and theology, and his steadfast, determined opposition to Nazism that made him a marked man who miraculously escaped execution. A powerful biography of a relentless fighter against injustice, a devoted son of the Church, a man who had the "soul of a lion". Illustrated.

The Soul of a Lion, an engaging memoir by Willie Labuschagne, is an exhilarating journey which begins with the young conservationist's unique experiences with wild animals. From his groundbreaking research on the desert cheetah's behaviour and ecology to becoming an internationally respected consultant on environmental and wildlife-related issues, he holds the reader's attention with all the skill of the master storyteller. The numerous occasions when Willie faced potentially life-threatening situations with wild animals are vividly recounted, many of them wryly humorous while others evoke deep emotion. But not all animal encounters took place in the wild. A significant and poignant encounter that further inspired Willie's approach to conservation occurred when, during his time as director of the Johannesburg Zoo, he and his family hand-raised a newborn lion cub that had been rejected by its mother. He recalls the countless obstacles put in his way by the bureaucratic nature of his own species during his tenure at the zoo. But despite numerous challenges he persisted in his goal of transforming and improving zoological institutions. A driving force behind the changing nature of professionally managed zoological gardens, Willie's book reminds us that, while many of the world's zoos should be unconditionally closed, progressive modern zoos are becoming increasingly aligned to wildlife conservation: they are vital for ensuring the survival of threatened species. Willie shares his entertaining and often moving life experiences with warmth and understanding, whether it is sleeping under the stars with the bushmen of the Kgalagadi desert or observing the traditions of the Zulu Royal House. His travels in the African landscape in particular are an exciting panorama of many distinctive habitats, from the relentless desert of the Skeleton Coast in Namibia to the pristine beauty of the Tsitsikamma Forest and the breathtaking vastness of the African bushveld. Importantly, he is forthright in his view of the critical position of the world we live in and the future it holds for mankind and believes that we are all part of a custodianship which should do everything in its power to protect our fragile environment. Willie Labuschagne, a man with the soul of a lion, is a dedicated and internationally celebrated wildlife conservationist who holds a master's degree in wildlife management. For more than five decades he has been actively involved in the conservation of threatened species for which he has received national and international recognition, culminating in numerous awards.

Skilled predators prized by hunters and cursed by ranchers, mountain lions are the wild soul of the American West. Now a wildlife biologist brings you nose to nose with the elusive cougar. Harley Shaw shares dramatic stories culled from his years of studying mountain lions, separating fact from myth regarding their habits while raising serious questions about mankind's relationship with this commanding creature. "Most of us move into the country because we love wildlife," writes Shaw. "But none of us will tolerate having our pets or children eaten. . . . When lion/human encounters occur, the lion (or bear, or wolf) always ultimately loses." Soul among Lions offers us a chance to consider the true meaning of that loss.

" I am so happy to find you again, says the girl to the lion. I shouldn't have left you. I left because I was ignorant, I listened to my evil side, instead of my soul. I told everyone about you, but no one believed me, that you really existed, they all tried to tell me that you were not real, that you were devil, that you were just bad... Then, I started to remember your wise lessons more and more. The more they were saying bad about you, the more I wanted to come back to you, my Lion King. Now I found you back, and I will never leave you anymore. - I only exist for those who believe in me, my girl, says the lion.... Only for those who believe in me. I knew that you would come back one day. I was waiting for you. I wouldn't leave without seeing that someone carries on my kingdom, my wisdom, and my virtues. I am now ready to go, because I feel safe that you will carry on my way. I will always be with you, as I was even though you left me, cold-heartedly. I was sad, but I was still waiting that one day you would reappear, and here you are. Don't ever leave something that you know is right, just because you were hurt or full of emotion..." ............... Serena Ray, in her first book, describes the deepest feeling that gratitude could create in us, through a relationship between a lion and a girl lost in the middle of savanna. It is about what a girl could feel for a wise master that she met. She would never have thought that it would be the biggest event of her life. Serena Ray describes that there is no love without learning, there is no love without a master-disciple relationship, as there is no real love if we don't go deep enough to see who we really are. That is the only relationship, where we see that we are not as strong as we think we are, and finally see that we are not as weak as we think we are.

The strong pass the adventure but the weak gets lost in the adventure of life and we all know the result that is SUICIDE! I have heard a lot that usually when people don't find any way, they commit suicide not knowing that it's not the solution. The only solution to their problems is Struggle! After all we know that struggles makes a man better. Some people are in a hurry and they always say that we have limited time on this earth, what we can do in it? Late one June night in 2011, a large animal collided with an SUV cruising down a Connecticut parkway. The creature appeared as something out of New England's forgotten past. Beside the road lay a 140-pound mountain lion. Speculations ran wild, the wildest of which figured him a ghostly survivor from a bygone century when lions last roamed the eastern United States. But a more fantastic scenario of facts soon unfolded. The lion was three years old, with a DNA trail embarking from the Black Hills of South Dakota on a cross-country odyssey eventually passing within thirty miles of New York City. It was the farthest landbound trek ever recorded for a wild animal in America, by a barely weaned teenager venturing solo through hostile terrain. William Stolzenburg retraces his two-year journey--from his embattled birthplace in the Black Hills, across the Great Plains and the Mississippi River, through Midwest metropolises and remote northern forests, to his tragic finale upon Connecticut's Gold Coast. Along the way, the lion traverses lands with people gunning for his kind, as well as those championing his cause. Heart of a Lion is a story of one heroic creature pitting instinct against towering odds, coming home to a society deeply divided over his return. It is a testament to the resilience of nature, and a test of humanity's willingness to live again beside the ultimate symbol of wildness.

Hath . . . The Lion Prevailed? uses the Bible as the main influence. The book shows the world that Haile Selassie I is Jesus Christ returned in his kingly and conquering form. It shows that Jesus conquered death, and for those who follow him will never die. It shows the cross as a symbol of death as it was before Jesus’ time, during His time, and as it still is today: a symbol of death, a graven image of silver, gold, wood, and stone. Hath . . . The Lion Prevailed? is a book that will reveal to anyone why the Rastafarians see Haile Selassie I as the Creator of the Universe.
