Arge sum of money among the schools 0 the State. As pupils begin the study of the higher branches after passing this examination, the questions are made to em brace all that is practical in the above branches. In all these questions not a single unimportant or catch question can be found. They are now used as text-books in many of the leading schools of the country. Cornell University, and most other colleges, recognizing their practical character, now admit, without any further examination upon these subjects, pupils who have passed an examination upon these questions. Students must pass these examinations before they are ad mitted to Teachers' Classes in Academies, and by the new rules of the New York Court of Ap eals, applicants for ex amination or for clerkship, shall, i' not college graduates, first pass one of these examinations.
