Excerpt from The Medical Clinics of North America, Vol. 3: May, 1920 This patient is a married woman, aged forty-three years; who was taken ill on or about January 4, 1920. She is unable to give a clear account of her first sensations, but states that she was extremely nervous and that very early she began to have double vision. This was followed by disturbance of gait, so that when she went through a door she was likely to bump on either side. It was not the typical gait of cerebellar ataxia, but was a general ataxia. As she expressed it, she walked like a drunken sailor. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Medical Clinics of North America, 1918, Vol. 1 Dr. Christian: The pulse is one of good volume and the vessel wall, in addition, is thickened. Look at his brachial arteries to see if you get any information from those in regard to the condition of the artery wall. We are dealing with a patient with a very slow regular pulse, a pulse of good volume, and the artery has a thickened wall. Student: There is very definite thickening of the wall in the brachial. It is evident there that the pulsation is very marked. Dr. Christian: What would you say about that type of pul sation in the brachial? You see there is quite an unusually prominent pulsation in the brachial vessels. What would you say about it? What kind of pulsation is that? Student: It is not very strong. It comes sharply and then disappears altogether. Dr. Christian: Yes, and what else? What is the direction of the pulsation? Excerpt from The Medical Clinics of North America, Vol. 3: March, 1920 There is a general impression that if there is one subject on which there is little that is new to be said it is appendicitis. Indeed, the impression is a perfectly correct one, but the circum stance remains that among SO many of the profession at large the facts concerning appendicitis are either not understood or ignored that they must be repeated again and again in order that their importance may be more universally recognized. It is for this reason that I have yielded to the flattering persuasion of the editor to appear in the Medical Clinics of North America. Excerpt from The Medical Clinics of North America, Vol. 5: September, 1921 The visible changes that take place in the retina as a result of impairment of the function of the kidneys are characteristic of the change within the kidney, and indicate to some extent the quality and quantity of that change.
