It should be the purpose, and I doubt not it is the full determination of this Council, to foster and promote the best interests of our city and let us remember that in thus doing we shall make the best return, and most acceptable acknowledgment in our power to make, to our constituents, for the honor they have conferred upon us, and the trust and confidence they have reposed in us, in electing us with so great a degree of unanimity to the several offices which we now hold.
