DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe flow of a Casson fluid under periodic pressure gradient in a rigid tube, in the low-frequency limit has been examined. Results show that the quasi-steady solution, where time acts as a parameter and not as an independent variable, can be used to construct accurate solutions of such a flow, which are applicable to the flow of blood in small vessels of low shear rate. As an illustration, the flow under a sinusoidal positive pressure gradient was computed for the quasi-steady theory, and the nonlinear relation between flow and instantaneous pressure gradient was clearly shown by the blunting of the flow-rate curve, which occurs when the numerical magnitude of the pressure gradient is small. DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis volume collects the proceedings of the International Conference on Recent Developments in Mathematics (ICRDM), held at Canadian University Dubai, UAE, in August 2022. This is the second of two volumes, with this volume focusing on more applied topics, particularly mathematical modeling and scientific computing, and the first covering recent advances in algebra and analysis. Each chapter identifies existing research problems, the techniques needed to solve them, and a thorough analysis of the obtained results. Advances in Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing will appeal to a range of postgraduate students, researchers, and industry professionals interested in exploring recent advancements in applied mathematics.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKCirculatory System Dynamics reviews cardiovascular dynamics from the analytical viewpoint and indicates ways in which the accumulated knowledge can be expanded and applied to further enhance understanding of the normal mammalian circulation, to ascertain the nature of difficulties associated with disease, and to test the effect of treatment. Comprised of 10 chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the circulatory system, including its anatomy and the trigger for myocardial (heart muscle) contraction. The discussion then turns to measurement of blood pressure using invasive and non-invasive techniques; blood flow measurement, with emphasis on cardiac output and measurement in the microcirculation; the system and pulmonary arterial trees; and pulsatile pressure and flow in pulmonary veins. Subsequent chapters explore microcirculation and the anatomy of the microvasculature; the heart and coronary circulation, paying particular attention to the Frank-Starling mechanism and indices of myocardial "contractility"; and control of blood pressure, peripheral resistance, and cerebral flow. The last two chapters deal with circulatory assistance and the closed cardiovascular system. This book will be of interest to students, practitioners, and researchers in fields ranging from physiology and biology to biochemistry and biophysics.
