Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 86: February 21, 1924 For be it known that Mormonism rests upon the testimony that God gives to His children of its truthfulness. If you will do the work you shall know whether these men speak of God or whether they speak of themselves. In humility and with all the earnestness of my soul I bear testi 11101) y that I know that the Angel Moroni came and revealed the Book of Mormon, that Joseph Smith was the instrument in the hands of God of establishing upon the earth God's Church, through which His Gospel may be preached to the world and I bear witness of its truthfulness in the name of Jesus Christ. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 86: February 28, 1924 If I were to think, as many of the people of the world think. That now my beloved parents are gone, they have passed out of my life forever and that I will never see them again, that would deprive me of aone of the greatest joys that I have in life, the contemplation of meeting them again, and receiving their welcome and their affection and of thanking them from the depths of a grateful heart. These are some off the blessings that appeal to me as coming through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 86: March 6, 1924 Joseph Smith did not, out of superior wisdom which he had, or because of his great learning, nor his deeper insight into the scriptures, excell the men of his generation or the generations that preceded him, in magnifying and in glorifying the mission and the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was qualified by heaven to accomplish the great work of setting before the world once again a true conception of the Father and of His Son, and of the Gospel which the Son introduced in the meridian of time. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 86: October 30, 1924 In his opening address, President Grant greeted the Saints and expressed joy at again meeting with them in general conference. He called attention to the radio set and said it had been esti mated that one million persons could hear the proceedings of this general conference, providing they listened in. He spoke of the wonder of the radio and said he rejoices in all great blessings. President Grant read from a revelation given through the Prophet Joseph Smith to the prophet's father, wherein it was said that a marvelous work and a wonder was about to be brought forth, admonishing the people to seek the Lord. This, said President Grant, he wished to impress upon the conference gathering. If there is any one special message, he said, that he desired to give the Church in conference assembled, it is Seek the Lord and serve Him with all your might, mind and strength. President Grant referred to a trip he made soon after the last general conference to various mission fields in the United States and Canada. He said he is pleased to report that the work is progressing, that the Elders and the lady missionaries are working faithfully and diligently. He said he played a game of golf near Kansas City on land once owned by General Doniphan, the courageous friend who once saved the life of the Prophet Joseph Smith by the stand he took against mob law. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 86: September 4, 1924 The question of missionary work, or evangelism, is of the. Greatest importance, when considered in all its scope. It is the greatest work in all the world. 'vhat constitutes a missionary? Not only the one who bears the message of the word of God, but the one who bears the message most effectively and understands it and lives it thoroughly. The missionary must have a personal acquaintance with the Savior, love Him, and also love his fellow men. There are millions of people in the world who can not be reached by the Church as a body, and this great mass of humanity must be reached by our Elders through personal evangelism. God works for humanity through men and women. When He wants to warm a human heart, He takes another human heart and places it beside the one He wants to touch. In the work of missionaries, we have a great teacher in the life of Christ. He won many of His followers through His personal efforts, rather than by His talks to the multitudes. If you want to be followers of Jesus Christ, you must be workers for Him. It may take sacrifice on your part to bear the message, but to the one who receives it, it means much. Self-control is one of the most conspicuous characteristics of missionaries. They accept poverty and adversity with serenity and cheerfulness, and pursue their purpose with an abiding sense of their persona-l responsi bility.' There are no limits to the possibilities of faith. The Savior invites us to a greater zeal; God knows our ability and what we do is done under the divine eye. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 86: July 17, 1924 I have no fear for schism and division of this Church, over the questions on doctrine that are arising in other churches, or whether modernism or fundamentalism shall ever be a question among us - fundamental things in this Church have clearly been established from the beginning. And we have. Continuous revela tion that will settle all such questions. We are founded upon the truth, that God lives, areal Being, our Father, that Jesus Christ is His Son, the Only Begotten in the flesh, the Firstborn in the Spirit, the literal Son of God, and the only Savior of mankind. I know it as well as I know that I live; you know it; and we are to tell the world of it and try to win the world for Christ. Oh, that we could tell all men! Oh, that these amplifiers could carry to-day the message to the ears of all flesh, that God has spoken, and in an age of the world's dire peril He has extended His helping hand to save them, and if they will but repent and receive the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, they shall find salvation here and hereafter. May that message be carried forward and reach all flesh, and blessing and honor shall be upon every man and every woman who thus contributes to this noble world cause. May it eventually prevail, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 86: May 15, 1924 The reports from our missions from all over the world are very satisfactory; and the one call, claim or plea that is made is, Send us more missionaries. There is only one real exception to this and that is in Japan. There is no exception in the call for more missionaries in that field, but after twenty odd years of labor in that country, we are convinced that not a dozen people have been thoroughly converted to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have seriously considered the question of closing that mission, but have not yet arrived at any conclusion.
