There's a whole other society living amongst the norm. And she's not just thrust into it, he tells her she's a part of it, too. If that wasn't enough, she now has to deal with someone out to harm the people she's come to call family. Only, there are still too many secrets for her to navigate all that's happening and know who to trust. The Chase Weeks have passed since the pack was betrayed, and now Maeleigh is living with Gearden's family, hoping his parents don't catch him sneaking into her room at night. She hasn't spoken to her father or seen her mother, but at least things have settled down. But not for long. Something strange is happening to Gearden. He's impatient, prone to anger. One evening when Ro walks in on them getting intimate, Gearden attacks. On top of that, Maeleigh keeps having strange dreams and hearing voices in her head. Then she starts receiving threatening text messages, and it becomes clear that the pack's problems with the Hunters have only just begun. Now she's forced to deal with her own inner demons while helping Gearden with his so they can prepare to face a threat so large that other packs have to be called in to help. Only this time Maeleigh will have to join the hunt. The Kill In the final book of the gripping trilogy, Maeleigh faces her greatest challenge yet, as she is plunged into a dark and dangerous underworld of faerie creatures and age-old vampires. Just who is the mysterious Queen Selena, and why has she taken such a keen interest in Maeleigh? Could the ancient prophecy be true? And if so, what does it mean? As Maeleigh gets to grips with the new powers growing inside her, she faces threats from all angles - from the enigmatic Cearer, coming to pass judgement on her actions, to the challenge for power within the ranks of the Westboro pack. And, of course the Hunters are still on the prowl... Maeleigh will need the support of the McIntire pack more than ever in this thrilling finale to 'The Hunt' trilogy, as she faces up to her destiny and learns what she is truly capable of. May the Goddess have mercy on her.

Drawing from Department of Conservation papers, hunting magazines, newspapers, historic photos of classic deer camps, and the personal stories of hunters and deer managers, On the Hunt offers a fascinating glimpse into a distant and not-so-distant past, when the hunt joined men in almost mythical unity and bucks were seemingly larger than life.

Volume 3 of Thomas Flanagan’s Irish History Trilogy This third volume of Thomas Flanagan’s best-selling Irish-history trilogy (which begins with The Year of the French and continues with The Tenants of Time) brings to epic life the events of the Irish War of Independence. Flanagan’s gaze is both world historical and intimate as he tells the story of Janice Nugent, a recent war widow who strikes up a romance with Christopher Blake, a historian and propagandist for the IRA; of Patrick Prentiss, discharged from the British army after losing an arm in World War I to find Dublin engulfed in civil turmoil; of a Virgil-toting gunman named Frank Lacy; and of a panorama of meticulously drawn historical figures on both sides of the conflict, from Winston Churchill and Lloyd George to Eamon de Valera and Michael Collins. While violence escalates and losses mount, the once-mighty British Empire shows signs of strain and Irish independence finally glimmers on the horizon.

At the end of the nineteenth century, Theodore Roosevelt, T. S. Van Dyke, and other elite men began describing their big-game hunting as “manly sport with the rifle.” They also began writing about their experiences, publishing hundreds of narratives of hunting and adventure in the popular press (and creating a new literary genre in the process). But why did so many of these big-game hunters publish? What was writing actually doing for them, and what did it do for readers? In exploring these questions, The Hunter Elite reveals new connections among hunting narratives, publishing, and the American conservation movement. Beginning in the 1880s these prolific hunter-writers told readers that big-game hunting was a test of self-restraint and “manly virtues,” and that it was not about violence. They also opposed their sportsmanlike hunting to the slaughtering of game by British imperialists, even as they hunted across North America and throughout the British Empire. Their references to Americanism and manliness appealed to traditional values, but they used very modern publishing technologies to sell their stories, and by 1900 they were reaching hundreds of thousands of readers every month. When hunter-writers took up conservation as a cause, they used that reach to rally popular support for the national parks and for legislation that restricted hunting in the US, Canada, and Newfoundland. The Hunter Elite is the first book to explore both the international nature of American hunting during this period and the essential contributions of hunting narratives and the publishing industry to the North American conservation movement.
