A new book by author Meath Conlan, PhD takes select teachings of a modern-day Buddhist Master and reveals how common ground of inter-spiritual wisdom can be found between his aphorisms, or sayings, and teachings of the Desert Elders from the early Christian centuries (250 AD to Late Roman Antiquity). Khejok Tulku Rinpoche is one of the diminishing numbers of “old teachers” in the Tibetan Tradition. Born in the 1930s, he is regarded as an incarnation of a renowned lama from the 5th Dalai Lama’s time. As a boy he was recognised and installed as Abbot of the second oldest monastery in the Gelugpa tradition of Tibetan Buddhism – Dhe Tsang Monastery, in Eastern Tibet. Khejok Rinpoche crossed the Himalayas and eventually came to Australia in 1986. He established centres dedicated to the learning and practice of Buddhism in the Gelug lineage. Meath Conlan, a student and friend of the late Dom Bede Griffiths, met Rinpoche in 1988. The two men have become firm friends - having travelled together to Christian and Buddhist Monasteries in Tibet, India, Nepal and Australia. Throughout the book, original drawings, taken from the author's field notebooks while traveling Tibet and Nepal, will add interest to the readings contained in this book. Foreword by H.H. The Dalai Lama

“ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I'VE READ IN RECENT YEARS. THOUGHT PROVOKING, IMAGINATIVE AND PACKS A HELL OF AN EMOTIONAL PUNCH.” —Adrian Tchaikovsky, author of Children of Time From one of the most imaginative writers of her generation comes an extraordinary vision of the future… Ven was once a holy man, a keeper of ancient archives. It was his duty to interpret archaic texts, sorting useful knowledge from the heretical ideas of the Burning Age—a time of excess and climate disaster. For in Ven's world, such material must be closely guarded so that the ills that led to that cataclysmic era can never be repeated. But when the revolutionary Brotherhood approaches Ven, pressuring him to translate stolen writings that threaten everything he once held dear, his life will be turned upside down. Torn between friendship and faith, Ven must decide how far he's willing to go to save this new world—and how much he is willing to lose. “A riveting tale of subterfuge and deadly self-indulgence” (Publishers Weekly, starred review) from award-winning author Claire North, Notes from the Burning Age puts dystopian fiction in a whole new light. In the vein of Kevin Hearne, Burning Ashes is the third book in the Ben Garston series, a contemporary fantasy tale of dragons and ancient magic hidden within our own world. The Lore is over. For Ben Garston, the fight is just beginning. The uneasy truce between the human and the mythical world has shattered. Betrayed by his oldest friend, with a tragic death on his hands, there isn't enough whiskey in England to wash away the taste of Ben's guilt. But for a one-time guardian dragon, there's no time to sit and sulk in the ruins. Because the Long Sleep has come undone. Slowly but surely, Remnants are stirring under the earth, unleashing chaos and terror on an unsuspecting modern world. Worse still, the Fay are returning, travelling across the gulfs of the nether to bring a final reckoning to Remnants and humans alike. A war is coming. A war to end all wars. And only Ben Garston stands in the way. . .
