A translation of the Koran into English by a native English speaker. Pickthall meant the work to convey the meaning of the Koran rather than to serve as a replacement for reading it in Arabic. He believed that "the Koran cannot be translated". The structure includes a short introduction summarizing the life of Mohammed and explaining the organization of the surahs (in the order that Mohammed preferred them rather than by chronological revelation or by consistent theme). The copy of the Koran that Pickthall used was written in 1246 C.E. by Al-Hajj Muhammad Shakarzâdeh from Turkey.
Verses of the Quran are called "Ayats". Quranic "Ayats" are proofs, miracles, and signs of Allah (swt) (The God). In the Quran, not only are the verses Ayats, but Allah says phenomenon in Nature, Earth and the Universe, fundamentally all things in His Creation, are also Ayats. Also, in the Quran, Allah (swt) says to reflect on the Ayats in both the Quranic verses as well as on Creation in order to believe in Him and His Messenger and follow the Divine Laws. The Quran itself has attributes of many things. Some of them are mentioned as "The Book of Enlightenment", "Criterion", "Light", "Reminder", "Admonishment", "Clear Evidence", "Wise", "Invincible", "Word of the Honorable Messenger" (Gabriel (as)), "Guidance", "Book of Revelation", "Recitation". Since in the Quran it refers to natural phenomena in the Heavens and Earth as Ayats as well, and upon reflecting on them, we can see connections and descriptions of scientific facts and theories that exist therein. These in themselves are miraculous given the scientific knowledge known at the time and place of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw), The Chosen One, when receiving Revelation.In this book, we can speculate the scientific reality of certain Ayats of the Quran. This includes scientific fields of physics, astrophysics, biology, quantum mechanics, mathematics, and in some cases, string theory. As a Muslim, the Quran is the source of truth for the reality of all things. We will see how certain Ayats match current scientific knowledge, both factual and theoretical, but also in some cases, where there are differences from the theoretical side of science. But in these cases, as we have multiple theories of science, where we hold some to be more possible actualities than others, the Quranic Ayats still adhere to one of them that we consider to be a possibility. There are about 80,000 words in the Quran but the actual words are only around 2000!!! This could also be termed as one of the many miracles of the Quran. Accordingly, if a reader decides to learn only 10 new words every day, he can understand the basic message of the Quran within a period of seven months! So it is indeed very easy to understand the Quran, provided one is willing to learn it. This word-for-word translation may not be considered as an addition to the existing translations, but an attempt to equip the reader to understand the revelation directly from the Arabic text; thus it will Insha-Allah be a very useful tool for those who are willing to study the Quran and try to understand it. A beginner can bear in mind the meanings of each Arabic word provided right below it. Since many words are repeated in the Quran, the student will find for himself that within a few months of regular study, he is indeed able to understand the Quran through the text itself. It may also be pointed out that a beginner does not have to, in the start itself, be worried about learning extensive grammar or how to speak the Arabic language. In fact, one has to develop vocabulary before learning grammar for the following reasons: * A child first learns words and then starts linking them together. We speak our mother tongue fluently without ever learning the grammatical rules. That is to say, we learn it by repeatedly listening to the words. * Learning extensive grammar before improving vocabulary is like putting the cart before the horse. Or it is like learning different styles of swimming by moving hands in the air inside a swimming pool without water. One has to fill the swimming pool with water (i.e., increase vocabulary) and then learn to swim (i.e., to connect the words with grammatical rules).
This volume is an attempt to be free from the influences of sectarianism in order to present a genuine and honest viewpoint of Monotheism's Holy Book, the Qur'an, by translating it the way it always deserved to be translated.

With so many English translations of the Qur'an available, it is inevitable that the reader would ask "why make another one?" The answer to that question lays in the current structure of the Islamic faith itself, and the fact that, for many centuries, Islam has been primarily sub-categorized as either Sunni or Shia or one of the many other denominations that have emerged over the years. As such, all translators have belonged to one school of thought or another which clearly comes across in the interpretation of and choice of translation for specific words or verses. "The Message" is the result of a group effort by people who do not belong to any denomination, and, for the first time in many centuries, are simply proud to call themselves Muslims as God had named centuries ago. Also, while many translators have been sincere in their rendering of the Arabic meaning of the words, they have been unable to refrain from adding comments in the form of "parenthesis" within the text of the translation or in the form of footnotes and appendices to reflect their views on certain verses or the views of the denomination they adhere to. "The Message" is unique in the fact that it uses neither footnotes nor comments letting the text speak for itself and delivering to the reader as close a rendition of the pure message of the Qur'an as physically possible. Finally, no matter how much can be said about this translation or any other, it is imperative to point out that guidance cannot come from any human being, rather, the only true knowledge and guidance can only come from the One who initiated the heavens and Earth. The Meaning of the Glorious Quran is an English Language translation of the Quran with brief introductions to the Surahs by Marmaduke Pickthall. In 1928, Pickthall took a two-year sabbatical to complete his translation of the meaning of the Quran, a work that he considered the summit of his achievement.
