DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from The Church Bells of Cambridgeshire; A Chronicle of the Principal Companalogical Events That Have Occurred Within the County: To Which Is Appended a List of the Inscriptions on the Bells MY object is to give a short account of the Church Bells, past and present, of the University, Town, and County of Cambridge. It does not fall within the scope of my subject to investi gate very particularly the early history of bells, and their introduction into the christian church. This species of musical furniture may have been in use in England before the coming of Augustine, in 596 but it is not likely that the bells of so remote a period were cast in a mould.
