A far quicker method is here given based on the use of titanous chloride. The method is given briefly in New Methods in Volu metric Analysis, by Knecht and Hibbert, where it is stated that in the presence of sulphuric acid titanous chloride is oxidised by perchlorates. Working details, however, are not given, and below is described a process fully worked out for this method.
