DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe paper describes the results of a brief examination of documents and reports related to Air Force activities in programmed instruction and the influence this new educational method is having on instructional and training programs, both in military and civilian fields. The documents on which it draws are those available in the files of the Division of Life Sciences and Mathematical Sciences, DCS/Plans and Programs, Hq Office of Aerospace Research (OAR), and in the Directorate of Life Sciences, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, OAR. The purpose of this inquiry was to identify the ways that Air Force interest in, and support of research in the field of programmed instruction assisted significantly in advancing knowledge in the field and in using this knowledge. An additional purpose was to identify the way that advancing knowledge in this field is changing the methodology and techniques of education and training generally. (Author).
