DOWNLOAD EBOOKWe report on preliminary measurements of time-dependent CP-violation asymmetries in charmless neutral B meson decays to K{sup +}K{sup -}K{sup 0} including resonant decays {phi}K{sup 0} and f{sub 0}(980)K{sup 0}, {eta}{prime}K{sup 0}, {pi}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}, K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}, K{sub S}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}, {rho}{sup 0}K{sub S}{sup 0}, {omega}{sub S}{sup 0}. The results are obtained from a data sample of up to 347 million B{bar B} pairs produced by e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B-meson Factory at SLAC.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKMeasurements of the angles and sides of the unitarity triangle and of the rates of rare B meson decays are crucial for the precise determination of Standard Model parameters and are sensitive to the presence of new physics particles in the loop diagrams. In this paper the recent measurements performed in this area by BABAR and Belle will be presented. The direct measurement of the angle [alpha] is for the first time as precise as the indirect determination. The precision of the.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKI report on recent measurements from the Belle and BABAR collaborations on the decay of the B meson to hadronic final states without a charm quark. The study of the branching fractions and angular distributions of B meson decays to hadronic final states without a charm quark probes the dynamics of both the weak and strong interactions, and plays an important role in understanding CP Violation (CPV) in the quark sector. CP Violation at the B factories is described graphically by a triangle with sides formed from the CKM matrix elements V{sub qd}V*{sub qb} (q = u, c, t) and internal angles [alpha], [beta] [gamma] (or [phi]2, [phi]1, [phi]3). Discrepancies in the measured values of the sides and angles could be an indication of New Physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) due to enhanced branching fractions or modified CP asymmetries. The experimental measurements of branching fractions, CP asymmetries, polarization and phases (both weak and strong) can be compared to theoretical models based on, for example, QCD factorization, SU(3) symmetry and Lattice QCD.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKRare charmless hadronic B decays are particularly interesting because of their importance in understanding the CP violation, which is essential to explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry in our universe, and of their roles in testing the ''effective'' theory of B physics. The study has been done with the BABAR experiment, which is mainly designed for the study of CP violation in the decays of neutral B mesons, and secondarily for rare processes that become accessible with the high luminosity of the PEP-II B Factory. In a sample of 89 million produced B{bar B} pairs on the BABAR experiment, we observed the decays B{sup 0} {yields} {omega}K{sup 0} and B{sup +} {yields} {omega}{rho}{sup +} for the first time, made more precise measurements for B{sup +} {yields} {omega}h{sup +} and reported tighter upper limits for B {yields} {omega}K* and B{sup 0} {yields} {omega}{rho}{sup 0}.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKRare hadronic B-meson decays allow us to study CP violation. The class of B-decays final states containing two vector mesons provides a rich set of angular correlation observables to study. This article reviews some of the recent experimental results from the BABAR and Belle collaborations.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis thesis describes the analyses of the rare charmless hadronic B meson decays B[sup 0] [yields] [phi]K[sup 0] and B[sup 0] [yields] K*[sup +][pi][sup -], using 20.58 fb[sup -1] of e[sup +]e[sup -] data taken at the [Upsilon](4S) resonance. The data were taken with the BABAR detector during its first run at the PEP-II asymmetric e[sup +]e[sup -] collider. Measurements of these modes using a counting technique are presented with the branching fractions [Beta](B[sup 0] [yields] [phi]K[sup 0]) = (9.3 [+-] 3.4(stat.) [+-] 1.1(syst.)) x 10[sup -6] with a significance of 4.9[sigma], and [Beta](B[sup 0] [yields] K*[sup +][pi][sup -]) = (20.8 [+-] 9.3(stat.) [+-] 2.1(syst.)) x 10[sup -6] with a significance of 3.0[sigma]. For the latter, an upper limit of [Beta](B[sup 0] [yields] K*[sup +][pi][sup -])

DOWNLOAD EBOOKWe report recent measurements of the CKM angle [alpha] using data collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy ee− collider at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. In addition to improved constraints on [alpha] from the decays B{sup {+-}} 2![rho]{sup {+-}}[rho]°, we also present preliminary results of neutral and charged B meson decays to K1(1270)[pi] and K1(1400)[pi] and its impact on the estimate for the CKM angle [alpha] based on time-dependent analysis of CP-violating asymmetries in B° 2!a1(1260){sup {+-}} [pi]{sup {-+}}. Moreover we report the first observation of the decay B 2!a1(1260){sup {+-}}a1(1260){sup {-+}}; this mode can be used, in principle, to provide an independent measurement of [alpha].

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis study reports the observation of the decays B02!$*+\atop{s}$[pi]- and B02!(*)-K+ in a sample of 230 x 106 Y(4S) 2!B$\bar{B}$ events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- storage ring, located at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. The branching fractions [beta](B0 2!D$+\atop{S}$[pi]- ) = (1.3 ± 0.3 (stat) ± 0.2 (syst)) x 10-5, [beta](B0 2!D$+\atop{S}$K+) = (2.5 ± 0.4 (stat) ± 0.4 (syst)) x 10-5, [beta](B02!$*+\atop{s}$[pi]- ) = (2.8 ± 0.6 (stat) ± 0.5 (syst)) x 10-5, and [beta](B02!(*)-K+) = (2.0 ± 0.5 (stat) ± 0.4 (syst)) x 10-5 are measured. The significance of the measurements to differ from zero are 5, 9, 6, and 5 standard deviations, respectively. This is a first observation of the decaysB+2!$*+\atop{s}$[pi]- and B02!(*)-K+. These results may potentially be useful in determining the CP asymmetry parameter sin(2[beta] + [gamma]) in the decays B02!$*+\atop{s}$[pi]-
