DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe third Sustainability Report of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) offers easily accessible information on ADB’s policies, programs, and practices as they relate to the social and environmental sustainability of development in Asia and the Pacific, and on changes in this work that have occurred since ADB published its second Sustainability Report, in 2009. The report also documents ADB’s continuing efforts to minimize its corporate environmental impact, especially at its Manila headquarters. For comparability, ADB’s current Sustainability Report is structured similarly to its first two. All three reports respond to the latest guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative while adapting to the particular characteristics of ADB’s work and the many different audiences interested in the information presented.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe scale of the universe continues to be one of the most challenging cosmological issues. These 15 papers represent a first review since the dramatic changes wrought in the field by the Hipparcos astrometric satellite and its subsequent data catalogue (viewable on a European Space Agency website). After the initial paper details this basis for calibrating distance indicators, several chapters focus on the primary indicators for stellar populations. The next set of chapters leave the Milky Way to discuss extra-galactic secondary distance indicators. Respective papers on the role of microlensing surveys and standard candles in stellar evolution theory further elucidate the cosmic mysteries. No index. DOWNLOAD EBOOKLarge area sky surveys are now a reality in the radio, IR, optical and X-ray passbands. In the next few years, new surveys using optical, UV and IR mosaic cameras with high throughput digital detectors will expand the dynamic range and accuracy of photometry and astrometry of objects over a significant fraction of the entire sky. Parallel X-ray and radio surveys over the same areas will produce astronomical image and spectroscopic databases of unprecedented size and quality. The combined data sets will provide significant new constraints on star formation, stellar dynamics, Galactic structure, the evolution of galaxies and large scale structure, as well as new opportunities to identify rare objects in the solar system and the Galaxy. Large area surveys have formidable data acquisition, processing, archiving, and data distribution demands and this meeting provided a forum for sharing experiences amongst workers specializing in different wavebands as well as discussing how multiband observations can reveal fundamental relationships in our understanding of the Universe.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis volume covers most areas in the physics of the solar system, with special emphasis on gravitational dynamics; its gist is the rational, in particular mathematical, understanding of the main processes at work. Special stress is given to the variety of objects in the planetary system and their long-term evolution. The unique character of this book is its breadth and depth, which aims at bringing the reader to the threshold of original research; however, special chapters and introductory sections are included for the benefit of the beginner. The volume is generally suitable for post-graduate students and researchers in physics, especially in the field related to the solar system. A large amount of figures and diagrams is included, often compiled with real data.

DOWNLOAD EBOOK"Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts" appearing twice a year has become oneof the fundamental publications in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics andneighbouring sciences. It is the most important English-language abstracting journal in the mentioned branches. The abstracts are classified under more than a hundred subject categories, thus permitting a quick survey of the whole extended material. The AAA is a valuable and important publication for all students and scientists working in the fields of astronomy and related sciences. As such it represents a necessary ingredient of any astronomical library all over the world.
