The Marriage of Heaven and Hell (about I790) written in prose, is a series Of aphorisms and Visions which attack orthodoxy and common sense. The seeming world around us is an illusion of our senses, which from their very nature cannot communicate true knowledge. According to this poem all true knowledge is intuitive. Hence intuition and instinct are good and right but the moral law, with its insistence on the repression of original sin and natural desire, is evil and false. The French Revolution, Book I, a prose poem, is a visionary history Of the beginning of the French revolution, which shows Blake's sympathy with the aims of the revolutionists. Blake associated with the British revolutionists, - Dr. Price, William Godwin, Tom Paine, Holcroft, and others, - at the house of Johnson the publisher during the years 1791-2. He became an extreme individualist, self-su icing and self-satisfied. He regarded natural impulse, which he called imagination or energy, as goodness and morality and duty as fetters which enchain the soul of mankind that forged them. "Songs of Innocence" was the first of Blake's illuminated books published in 1789. It is a cheerful and optimistic volume which concerns itself with such themes as springtime, children's games, the freedom of the human spirit, and a kind and loving God. "Songs of Experience" is the second part of "Songs of Innocence and of Experience". The poems and artwork were reproduced by copperplate engraving and colored with washes by hand. Blake republished "Songs of Innocence and Experience" several times, often changing the number and order of the plates. The spellings, punctuation and capitalizations are those of the original Blake manuscripts. William Blake (1757 – 1827) was a British poet, painter, visionary mystic, and engraver, who illustrated and printed his own books. Blake proclaimed the supremacy of the imagination over the rationalism and materialism of the 18th-century. Largely unrecognised during his lifetime, Blake is now considered a seminal figure in the history of both the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age.

Other People’s Comfort Keeps Me Up at Night—the book that launched the career of one of our most important young American poets—is back in print. The debut collection from award-winning poet Morgan Parker demonstrates why she’s become one of the most beloved writers working today. Her command of language is on full display. Parker bobs and weaves between humor and pathos, grief and anxiety, Gwendolyn Brooks and Jay-Z, the New York School and reality television. She collapses any foolish distinctions between the personal and the political, the “high” and the “low.” Other People’s Comfort Keeps Me Up at Night not only introduced an essential new voice to the world, it contains everything readers have come to love about Morgan Parker’s work.
