The Devil, you say? Isn't the very notion of a "Prince of Evil" archaic and to be relegated to the theology of the middle ages? No, not at all, argues Bert G. Osterberg in his book, Lion on the Loose: The Works of the Devil in the 21st Century. Whether looked upon as literal, figurative, symbolic or allegorical, an Enemy exists which continuously "seeks whom to devour." An honest look at the history of the last century leaves little doubt in the existence of evil. From the carnage of the First World War through the horrors of the Second World War; from the excesses of the Russian Communist Revolution through the genocidal slaughters of Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and Mao, we are left with first- hand knowledge of the Enemy's power, but it is in our personal lives that the Devil's power is made so evident. We struggle to be saved from fear; to be fulfilled in our relationships and to be right with God and others. We need weapons to fight the Enemy in these struggles. In this book, the reader, whether a born again Christian believer, seeker or even agnostic, will find ways to combat the Enemy who strives against us and tries to hold us back from salvation, fulfillment and righteousness. Using the Scriptures as his guide, Mr. Osterberg points out practical ways to be firm against the assault led by one who uses doubt, fear and confusion among weapons against us.

Walvoord, one of evangelicalism's most prominent leaders, and Mark Hitchcock, today's leading Bible prophecy expert? In this first in a renewed series of commentaries from Dr. Walvoord, he points out that much of the book's symbolism can be interpreted literally. At key points, different views and approaches to interpretation are explored. Walvoord devotes special attention to textual and doctrinal issues while avoiding technical language. Outlines From a Pastor is a collection of sermon outlines and Bible Studies that I have given at various times during my forty plus years in the ministry. There are many good books like it for busy pastors, Sunday School teachers, missionaries, and Christian workers. Some outlines are borrowed from others and some are original. There are also some poems I wrote about being a pastor and about the Christian life. This is followed by some illustrations and short stories. A few pictures were added for my friends. It is my prayer that this book will be a help to others and that the gospel of Jesus Christ will be shared with others. Pastor Steve Janke

In the New York Times best-selling book, What in the World Is Going On?, Dr. David Jeremiah answers the hard questions, including these: "How is prophecy playing out in modern Europe?" "Why does Israel matter?" "How are oil reserves and Islamic terrorism related?" "Does the United States play a role in prophecy?" "How should we live in the end times?" The Bible has plenty to say about end times. But until now, there has been no other book that—in straightforward prose that’s easy to understand —gathers ten scriptural prophecies, lays out a chronological checklist, and offers a guideline for sorting it all out. In What in the World Is Going On? Dr. David Jeremiah answers the hard questions, including these: "How is prophecy playing out in modern Europe?" "Why does Israel matter?" "How are oil reserves and Islamic terrorism related?" "Does the United States play a role in prophecy?" "How should we live in the end times?" Events unfolding in today’s world are certainly unsettling, but they need not be confusing or frightening. Now you can know the meaning behind what you see in the daily news—and understand what in the world is going on! “A clear, compelling primer on God’s heart for Israel and the dramatic Bible prophecies that will unfold in these last days. What I loved most is that David Jeremiah unashamedly examines and explains the biggest global trends of our day through the Third Lens of Scripture. And his description of Jesus’ unconditional love and compassion for Jews and Muslims is alone worth the read!” —Joel C. Rosenberg, New York Times best-selling author, The Last Jihad and Epicenter: Why the Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your World

Throughout the ages, Satan has been seen as God's implacable enemy, fiercely determined to keep as many human beings as he can from entering the heavenly kingdom. But according to Henry Ansgar Kelly, this understanding dates only from post-biblical times, when Satan was reconceived as Lucifer, a rebel angel, and as the serpent in the garden of Eden. In the Bible itself, beginning in the book of Job and continuing through the New Testament, Satan is considered to be a member of the heavenly government, charged with monitoring the human race. In effect, he is God's Minister of Justice, bent on exposing sin and vice, especially in virtuous-seeming persons like Job and Jesus. He fills the roles of investigator, tempter (that is, tester), accuser, prosecutor, and punisher, but also obstructer, preventer of vice, and rehabilitator. He is much feared and despised, accused of underhanded and immoral tactics. His removal from office is promised and his eventual punishment hoped for. The later misreading of Satan as radically depraved transformed Christianity into a highly dualistic religion, with an ongoing contest between good and evil. Seeing Satan in his true nature, as a cynical and sinister celestial bureaucrat, will help to remedy this distorted view.
