Student transportation is different from most other aspects of school programs. It is a service and only incidentally related to the instructional aspects of the child. This study sought to resolve some of the ambiguous areas of responsibility with emphasis on the role of the state of student transportation in Nevada. The need for safety, economy, efficiency, and adequacy in student transportation points toward the desirability of establishing a proper division of authority and responsibility between state and local school districts.
