A presentation of the most elementary form of pulsatile flow as an important prerequisite for the study of other flow applications in biological systems. The book provides in a single source a complete treatment of the fluid dynamics of flow with the required mathematics and emphasis on the basis mechanics. The style and level of this book make it accessible to students and researchers in biophysics, biology, medicine, bioengineering and applied mathematics working in theoretical and clinical work on the cardiovascular system, as well as in the design of new instrumentation, medical imaging systems, and artificial organs. With problems and exercises.

Topics included in this book: Blood flow through arteries, where the investigations of blood flow through arteries are of considerable importance in many cardiovascular diseases particularly atherosclerosis. Blood flow under normal physiologic conditions is an important field of study, as is blood flow under diseased conditions. Properties of blood, where, the study of the rheological properties of blood can allow a better understanding of blood circulation. Blood Visco-elasticity, where, Blood Visco-elasticity is a property of human blood that is primarily due to the elastic energy that is stored in the deformation of red blood cells as the heart pumps the blood through the body. There were only minor differences between adult and pediatric blood, which allows the same blood analog to be used in both cases. The pulsatile flow of blood, where, the pulsatile flow of blood through an artery has great importance in medical sciences. The properties of human blood as well as blood vessels and magnetic field effect were the subjects of interest for several researchers.

The flow of a Casson fluid under periodic pressure gradient in a rigid tube, in the low-frequency limit has been examined. Results show that the quasi-steady solution, where time acts as a parameter and not as an independent variable, can be used to construct accurate solutions of such a flow, which are applicable to the flow of blood in small vessels of low shear rate. As an illustration, the flow under a sinusoidal positive pressure gradient was computed for the quasi-steady theory, and the nonlinear relation between flow and instantaneous pressure gradient was clearly shown by the blunting of the flow-rate curve, which occurs when the numerical magnitude of the pressure gradient is small.
