Ever since, ASWA meetings have served as an inspiring gathering for those conducting archaeozoological research in Southwest Asia, the Eastern Mediterranean, North Africa, Central Asia and the Caucasus. This book contains sixteen papers presented at the 12th ASWA meeting hosted at its inaugural institution, the University of Groningen, Groningen Institute of Archaeology, as a continuation of the usual series and to celebrate the career of Dr. Hijlke Buitenhuis, associated member and alumnus of the institute, co-organizer of the first ASWA meeting.Like other ASWA proceedings before it, this volume is full of novel theoretical and methodological approaches and new research results, tackling a large variety of topics, from the geometric morphometrics of sheep in the Pre-Pottery Neolithic Period to Predynastic fishing in the Upper Nile, to the biogeography of hartebeest and hemione, and covering the vast region stretching between Hungary in the west and Azerbaijan in the east. The volume also features an opening article by ASWA founding member M.A. Zeder on the future of archaeozoology in the region. DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe report is structured so as to achieve three objectives: 1 to introduce the reader to the security context in which HSD operates; 2 to provide an overview of where HSD stands and what its assets are; and 3 to show directions for development of the cluster and opportunities to reinforce its mission: to bring together triple-helix-partners with the aim to achieve synergies, bring economic benefits to the Netherlands as a hub for security innovation, and, ultimately, to generate security and economic benefits for society as a whole. The first part of the report starts out by describing what is meant by security, how thinking about security has evolved, and how ever more vital aspects of our daily lives have become part of the security realm. It then briefly surveys some key themes of security, showing how they are interlinked. Subsequently, we survey how these various security themes are currently incorporated in our national security strategies, and reflect on the priorities that are set by the government, but also within civil society, the business world and among citizens. The second part focuses on The Hague Security Delta: what makes it well-equipped to deal with the security challenges that were described in the first part? Where can it make the most meaningful contributions and produce the most value-added, and how is it positioning itself to capitalise on existing and potential opportunities? Subsequently, we investigate some of these opportunities by focusing on how other security clusters have evolved and by highlighting some innovation projects and initiatives that HSD partners and others are engaged in. Finally, some of the highestpotential projects are highlighted that can help consolidate or expand the reach of HSD, and help to improve security provision in a way that adds value to our economy and society alike. The conclusion will recap the objectives of HSD and provide some highlights from its 2015 agenda.

It is not the objective to focus solely on the developments in vegetation over time, but to create an image of the landscape that must have been visible to prehistoric people. Landscape and vegetation form a major starting point for the opportunities available in a certain area for a broad scale of human activities including grazing of livestock, cultivating crops and collecting wild plants. The majority of the analyses are based on seeds and fruits (botanical macroremains) from two Dutch prehistoric regions. These are the small river system in the present Flevopolder, home to settlements of the so-called Swifterbant Culture in the Neolithic period (4300 ? 4000 BC), and the Frisian-Groningen terp region in the period prior to the endikements (700 BC ? c. 1200 AD).

DOWNLOAD EBOOKDue to the absence of due process and other procedural guarantees generally offered by judicial enforcement, informal debt collection practices (IDCPs) can become abusive, harming both consumers and the economy by threatening consumers’ physical, psychological, and economic wellbeing; exposing lawabiding debt collectors to unfair competition; undermining the financial system; and negatively impacting social peace by resorting to criminal activity. The need to control and harmonize IDCPs surfaced in connection with the European Commission’s Action Plan to tackle the high level of non-performing loans caused by the financial crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic –specifically the Proposal for a Directive on Credit Servicers, Credit Purchasers, and the Recovery of Collateral (CSD). Harmonizing the regulation of abusive IDCPs is vital for several reasons. First, IDCPs have a cross-border dimension due to the freedom of movement, enabling debt collection operations across the internal market. Second, the internal market’s size amounts to over 450 million citizens potentially exposed to abusive IDCPs. The regulatory frameworks addressing IDCPs in the E.U. display divergent characteristics that may be difficult to navigate and require creating a level-playing field for consumers and debt collectors, especially when approaches vary at Member State level. This book addresses this gap by providing a comprehensive guide to regulating informal debt collection practices in eight Member States of the E.U. and the United Kingdom (U.K.). It serves as a comparative law instrument for implementing the recently adopted CSD. It will be important reading for students, academics, and stakeholders with an interest in debt collection practices and the law.
