DOWNLOAD EBOOKIn 'Psychic Research and Gospel Miracles', Edward Macomb Duff explores the relationship between psychic phenomena and the miracles recorded in the Gospels. Drawing on the latest research in the field of psychic science, Duff examines the evidence for clairvoyance, telepathy, and other paranormal phenomena, and considers how these phenomena might shed new light on the miracles of Jesus. This thought-provoking book challenges readers to rethink their understanding of the supernatural and its place in the modern world. DOWNLOAD EBOOKExcerpt from Psychic Research and Gospel Miracles: A Study of the Evidences of the Gospel's Superphysical Features in the Light of the Established Results of Modern Psychical Research The following pages have been written and arranged to draw attention to what we believe to be new light upon the Gospel of Christ; viz., the light thrown upon it by the superphysical phenomena brought out by modern psychical research. In this new light, as is our purpose to make plain, the Gospel's veracity is exhibited and the Nazarene's inerrancy as a Spiritual Teacher is shown. Why this is not now plain to all men is due, we think, to the fact that modern superphysical phenomena have not yet been popularly assimilated. At present these phenomena are indeed arousing intense popular interest. The people seem eager to read everything that is written about them; but their full evidential significance has not been grasped. Ten years hence a demonstrative work like ours will, we surmise, be superfluous. By that time religious thinkers will be looking upon superphysical phenomena as commonplaces in Christian evidence. DOWNLOAD EBOOKCan science, psychology, and biology explain miracles? This three-volume set attempts to answer that question, presenting the latest, as well as classic, thinking and research regarding miracles from fields that include psychology, psychiatry, theology, biology, and history. We have all heard of what seem miraculous events, which have surfaced across history. They range from stigmata and bleeding icons to deadly tumors that disappear and healers who succeed just by laying hands on the afflicted; from people who can predict unexpected events to so-called mediums and those who can allegedly see and speak with the dead. These books, led by an eminent scholar who serves as series editor for the Praeger series Psychology, Religion, and Spirituality, examine miracles of body, mind, and spirit, presenting the most recent research and writing on these uncommon events, aiming to bring hard science to some of the most persistent and peculiar phenomena associated with the human race. Can science, psychology, and biology explain miracles? This three-volume set attempts to answer that question, presenting the latest, as well as classic, thinking and research regarding miracles from fields that include psychology, psychiatry, theology, biology, and history. From news of a crippled woman who left her wheelchair and walked after an evangelist prayed over her, to stories of people who died on the operating table only to be revived to tell of bright lights and the pathway to the afterlife, we've all heard of what seem miraculous events. They have surfaced across history. They range from stigmata and bleeding icons to deadly tumors that disappear, and healers who succeed just by laying hands on the afflicted; from people who can predict unexpected events to so-called mediums and those who can allegedly see and speak with the dead. Some miracles are intricately tied to religious beliefs, but there are millions of people who ascribe to no particular religion, yet still believe that things happen that defy all laws of nature, and thus defy scientific explanation. In these books, eminent scholar J. Harold Ellens and his team of expert contributors examine miracles of body, mind, and spirit, presenting the most recent research and writing on these uncommon events as they aim to bring hard science to some of the most persistent—and peculiar—phenomena associated with the human race.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKEarly on in my study, it became evident that Mark was not simply recounting the healing incidents that Jesus had performed. Mark looked at the healing miracles of Jesus through the lens of God’s perspective. What was significant to Mark and what captured my spiritual imagination was his interpretation of the healing miracles. He made it clear to the readers that Jesus clearly understood the redemptive implications of his mission as the Jewish healer-redeemer. Jesus fully embraced his Messianic mission to bring salvation to the Hebrew people. He would become the perfect sacrificial lamb of God to bring about the restoration of fallen humanity. In and through him, God’s good creation would be restored. Through Jesus’ sacrificial death, God would create a new covenant of grace, which could be acceptable to both Jews and Gentiles. The healing miracles demonstrated the defeat of sin, sickness, death, and the evil influence of Satan’s demonic forces. Jesus did this by not only removing our sins but also taking the consequences of our sins upon himself, nailing them to the cross. All of Jesus’ healing miracles were interpreted similarly. I found Mark’s gospel both inspiring and informative, allowing me to see the heart, love, compassion, and mind of God for His creation.
