For over 25 years, Rabbi Elchonon Goldenberg has been teaching Parsha in a unique way that kept his students enthralled and helped them remember it for years after. An artist by nature, his simple stick figures are like no other, the expressions accurate, the details vivid, capturing Midrashim and Rashis with accuracy. His style of teaching still continues and remains very effective, leaving children with accurate memories of what they were taught in school. - Parsha Stix simplifies complicated scenes by limiting detail, while including many important aspects all at once. - The words from the actual Posuk are on the page, so children can mentally associate the words they follow in Shul with the words they read in class. - The easy format allows children to remember accurate details as they say over the Parsha at their Shabbos table. - The sheets bridge the gap between school and home, illustrating to parents how much their children gain in their school and helping children retain information learned in a different location. In response to the numerous requests to publish this work which teachers have been using in its raw form for many years, we are pleased to present the first edition in booklet form. Since the objective of this booklet is greater understanding of the parsha through the use of stick figures, it has been named "Parsha Stix," subtitled "Nir'eh V'Nishma ," "We will see and we will understand."

Depending on the grade being taught, and the times available for Parsha each week, this booklet can be used in a number of ways. For younger grades, the teacher can explain to the class the meaning of the pictures, in whatever style he/she is comfortable with, either lecture/acting out, or in other interactive ways. Our recommendation is to involve the students as much as possible, either with group discussion, picture drawing, or note taking, depending on age and ability. Using a projector or a smartboard with a laser pointer always helps for further visual stimulation. For older grades who are more capable, looking up sources of the information.

"Irwin Kula shows us how to to live our humanness -- the pleasures and the challenges, the messiness and the triumphs -- with a profound acceptance of our desires and foibles and a joy that can only come from understanding." --Deepak Chopra "Yearning. After twenty-three years as a rabbi, I can think of no more defining human experience." Life can be messy and imperfect. We're all looking for answers. And yet, as renowned rabbi Irwin Kula points out, the yearning for answers is no different now than it was in the times that gave rise to Moses, Buddha, and Jesus. Far from being a burden, however, these yearnings can themselves become a path to blessing, prompting questions and insights, resulting in new ways of being and believing. In this, his first book, Rabbi Kula takes us on an excursion into the depths of our desires, applying ancient Jewish tradition to seven of our most wonderful yearnings. Merging ancient wisdom with contemporary insights, Rabbi Kula shows how traditional practices can inform and enrich our own search for meaning. More importantly, he invites us to embrace the messiness and complexities of the human experience in order to fully embrace the endless and glorious project of life.

Indie Book Awards Winner A deeply affirming exploration of the unknown—with meditations and exercises for transforming the fear and uncertainty of ‘not knowing’ into a sense of openness, curiosity, and bravery For most of us, the unknown is both friend and foe. At times, it can be a source of paralyzing fear and uncertainty. At other times, it can be a starting point for transformation, creativity, and growth. The unknown is a deep current that runs throughout all religions and mystical traditions, plays an important role in contemporary psychotheraputic thought and practice, and is essential to personal growth and healing. In The Wisdom of Not Knowing, psychotherapist Estelle Frankel shows us that our psychological, emotional, and spiritual health is radically influenced by how comfortable we are with navigating the unknown and uncertain dimensions of our lives. Drawing on insights from Kabbalah, depth psychology, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, and ancient myth, Frankel explores how we can grow our souls by tapping into the wisdom of not knowing. She also includes case studies of individuals who have grappled with fears of the unknown and, as a result, come out wiser, stronger, and more resilient. Each chapter includes experiential exercises and meditations for befriending the unknown, conveying how embracing a state of "not knowing" is the key to gaining new knowledge, learning to bear uncertainty, and enjoying a healthy sense of adventure and curiosity.
