DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book focuses on the personalisation of the user interface in e-commerce based on collected data on customer behaviour. While product recommendation systems are widely used for this purpose today, they do not allow for a comprehensive adaptation of the layout to different user groups. The proposed approach is based on the conclusion that since e-commerce customers are different, the user interface should also be different. To make this possible, several components need to be combined, which together allow the design of the online shop to be automatically or expertly adapted to the customer's choices and behaviour. It presents and discusses a framework that allows data to be collected, processed and used to optimise UI variants for generated customer segments. The proposed approach has been verified in practice and further developed on this basis, so that the reader is presented with a solution that is not riddled with 'baby age' problems, and the limitations and challenges identified are described and commented on in detail. Typical e-commerce systems currently have a single UI for all customers. The implementation of multi-variant UIs therefore represents an opportunity for companies to create a marketing advantage by addressing the personalisation trends in e-commerce. The book is intended for those responsible for developing e-commerce platform and user interfaces for web-based systems, as well as individuals interested in practical applications of machine learning in business.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKHow do you design personalized user experiences that delight and provide value to the customers of an eCommerce site? Personalization does not guarantee high quality user experience: a personalized user experience has the best chance of success if it is developed using a set of best practices in HCI. In this book 35 experts from academia, industry and government focus on issues in the design of personalized web sites. The topics range from the design and evaluation of user interfaces and tools to information architecture and computer programming related to commercial web sites. The book covers four main areas: -Theoretical, Conceptual, and Architectural Frameworks of Personalization, -Research on the Design and Evaluation of Personalized User Experiences in Different Domains, -Approaches to personalization Through Recommender Systems, -Lessons Learned and Future Research Questions. This book will be a valuable tool in helping the reader to understand the range of factors to take into consideration in designing and building a personalized user experience. The authors of each of the chapters identify possibilities and alert the reader to issues that can be addressed in the beginning of a project by taking a 'big picture' view of designing personalized user interfaces. For anyone working or studying in the field of HCI, information architecture or eCommerce, this book will provide a solid foundation of knowledge and prepare for the challenges ahead.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKInformation systems (IS) are the backbone of any organization today, supporting all major business processes. This book deals with the question: how do these systems come into existence? It gives a comprehensive coverage of managerial, methodological and technological aspects including: Management decisions before and during IS development, acquisition and implementation Project management Requirements engineering and design using UML Implementation, testing and customization Software architecture and platforms Tool support (CASE tools, IDEs, collaboration tools) The book takes into account that for most organizations today, inhouse development is only one of several options to obtain an IS. A good deal of IS development has moved to software vendors – be it domestic, offshore or multinational software firms. Since an increasing share of this work is done in Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and Africa, the making of information systems is discussed within a global context.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKMultiple User Interfaces allow people using mobile phones, lap tops, desk tops, palm tops or PDAs to access and read information from their central server or the internet in a coherent and consistent way and to communicate effectively with other users who may be using different devices. MUIs provide multiple views of the information according to the device used and co-ordinate communication between the users. Multiple User Interfaces: Engineering and Applications Frameworks is the first work to describe user interface design for mobile and hand-held devices such as mobile phones. Given the proliferation of books on web site design in the late '90s, this promises to be the forerunner in a new wave of books dealing with the issues specific to small screens, limited memory and wireless transmission. It also deals with problems relating to multi-user functionality and sharing the same application over various platforms. Offers a comprehensive account of state-of-the-art research Combines human and technical aspects including social interaction, workflow, HCI, & system architectures. Provides practical toolkits, guidelines and experience reports Includes contributions from leading experts at all the key institutions – Virginia Tech, Concordia University, Lancaster University, Ericsson & Intel With such a unique and cutting-edge approach researchers and developers working on user interface design in companies manufacturing handsets and other portable devices, university HCI groups and companies providing web-based information services for delivery to hand-held devices will find this indispensable.
