In this book, Mikey explains how a young child with autism sees, hears, and feels the world around him in his school environment. Mikey is not just intended for educators; although, all teachers should read it to their classes. It is intended to educate adults as well as young children to increase their awareness and understanding of the child with autism. This book, and others to follow, was inspired by my vast experiences as a teacher working with children with autism.
Little Mikey is scared of everything. He s certain there are creepy crawlies hidden under the rug. He sleeps with his light on to keep the monsters at bay. He s scared of sharks and snakes even ladders and slides and it all makes him incredibly sad. But, when he stumbles upon an old book that tells the tale of a young boy prince that volunteers to protect his king-less kingdom from hordes of dragons, there s a chance Mikey might discover that his fears are not quite as big as they seem
Nikky wrote this book with the intention of providing valuable information to pet owners who are navigating the challenging path of Palliative and hospice care for their older and ailing pets. It's a resource for those who may be new to the concept of Palliative and hospice care or seeking a deeper understanding of how it works. My motivation stems from a personal experience with my first dog that required hospice care. At the time, I was unsure of how to best support my pet and ended up relying solely on veterinary decisions. However, I soon realized that there were many ways I could enhance my pet's well-being at home.

This book is dedicated to our special angel, Heidi (Carroll) Kunkel who was called to leave us at the young age of 34. She left behind seven-year old twins, Erik and Sean, her husband, sister, brothers, father and mother, and her whole family who love her dearly. Heidi passed away after a courageous battle with primary liver cancer. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Wickman and his clinicians in Quito, Ecuador; they gave us an extra year with Heidi. Mikey’s Journey to the Other Side is a story about a wonderful seven-year old who is born with a defective heart. His close relationship with his Grandma comes to an end when she dies suddenly. Grandma’s burial in the casket is frightening and overwhelmingly sad. When Mikey has another heart operation, he has a near-death-experience. He is briefly reunited with his grandmother’s spirit in a beautiful garden. Now knowing that love can keep him connected to Grandma until they meet again on “The Other Side,” he is able to return to Earth to continue his life. This book was written in hopes that other families will be able to find comfort for themselves and their children when they are faced with the anxiety of the death of a loved one. Believing in the eternal spirit within each of us, and our eventual reunion on the “Other Side,” is a comfort that can ease the fear, pain and finality of death. BELIEVE

Mr. Mikey's Video Views started as a response to the three-line reviews found in most review guides, and the "self-serving" and exceedingly picky reviews written by most "popular critics." Mr. Mikey is a movie lover, and has fun and enjoys virtually every movie he sees. His reviews reflect this love of movies.
