Desde 2008, el Simposio Las Sociedades ante el Reto Digital, se ha venido desarrollando en el marco de la Cátedra Europa, organizado por la Universidad del Norte en Barranquilla, Colombia. En sus seis ediciones, se ha consolidado como un espacio de encuentro académico interesado en el abordaje interdisciplinar de las TIC desde tres grandes áreas, las ciencias sociales, las comunicaciones y la educación.
El paradigma educativo actual está cambiando el modelo de enseñanza, poniendo el aprendizaje del estudiante en el centro del proceso. Además, las posibilidades y conectividad que ofrece la tecnología actualmente permiten establecer estrategias formativas de aprendizaje ubicuo, orientando la formación hacia un aprendizaje colaborativo y social en todo lugar y momento. En esta obra se recogen enfoques y experiencias de innovación docente en Educación Superior, desarrolladas por docentes e investigadores en el ámbito Ubicuo y Social del Aprendizaje con TIC. En la actualidad la gestión académica del docente en la educación superior demanda la aplicación de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación por los cambios generados en la sociedad a causa de la transformación digital en el mundo y la pandemia del COVID 19. Esta situación implica que los docentes de universidades públicas y privadas implicados en los procesos académicos universitarios, implementen las herramientas virtuales que ofrecen las TIC en los procesos educativos, por los múltiples beneficios que ofrecen a la formación académica de los estudiantes. Por el lado del docente, se necesita una capacitación programada y continua en el manejo de las herramientas virtuales, para estar a la altura de los avances tecnológicos como educadores del nivel universitario, y, por otro lado, se necesita brindar a los alumnos la facilidad de acceso a dispositivos adecuados y conectividad a internet para acceder a clase en todo momento. El mundo actual esta transformado por la tecnología y demanda la integración de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación en la gestión del docente, en su labor educativa. Es por ello, que los docentes deben estar preparados.

Education in the Global South faces several key interrelated challenges, for which Open Educational Resources (OER) are seen to be part of the solution. These challenges include: unequal access to education; variable quality of educational resources, teaching, and student performance; and increasing cost and concern about the sustainability of education. The Research on Open Educational Resources for Development (ROER4D) project seeks to build on and contribute to the body of research on how OER can help to improve access, enhance quality and reduce the cost of education in the Global South. This volume examines aspects of educator and student adoption of OER and engagement in Open Educational Practices (OEP) in secondary and tertiary education as well as teacher professional development in 21 countries in South America, Sub-Saharan Africa and South and Southeast Asia. The ROER4D studies and syntheses presented here aim to help inform Open Education advocacy, policy, practice and research in developing countries.
Contribuye a paliar la escasez de publicaciones en español que desarrollan tanto reflexiones teóricas como prácticas en el campo de la integración de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) a la institución universitaria. Es una contribución al debate sobre la transformación de la Universidad en la llamada sociedad de la información y del conocimiento. También pretende ser un puente de diálogo entre Europa y Latinoamérica, en un terreno donde la cooperación es intrínsecamente necesaria y da voz a modelos y experiencias distintas para que su contraste sea enriquecedor para todos. Los contenidos de la obra nacen de las dos sesiones paralelas que se dedicaron a "Las TIC y la transformación de las universidades" en la conferencia Online Educa Barcelona 2002.
This book presents the proceedings of International Conference on Knowledge Society: Technology, Sustainability and Educational Innovation (TSIE 2019). The conference, which was held at UTN in Ibarra, Ecuador, on 3–5 July 2019, allowed participants and speakers to share their research and findings on emerging and innovative global issues. The conference was organized in collaboration with a number of research groups: Group for the Scientific Research Network (e-CIER); Research Group in Educational Innovation and Technology, University of Salamanca, Spain(GITE-USAL); International Research Group for Heritage and Sustainability (GIIPS), and the Social Science Research Group (GICS). In addition, it had the endorsement of the RedCLARA, e-science, Fidal Foundation, Red CEDIA, IEEE, Microsoft, Business IT, Adobe, and Argo Systems. The term “knowledge society” can be understood as the management, understanding and co-creation of knowledge oriented toward the sustainable development and positive transformation of society. In this context and on the occasion of the XXXIII anniversary of the Universidad Técnica del Norte (UTN), the Postgraduate Institute through its Master of Technology and Educational Innovation held the I International Congress on Knowledge Society: Technology, Sustainability and Educational Innovation – TSIE 2019, which brought together educators, researchers, academics, students, managers, and professionals, from both the public and private sectors to share knowledge and technological developments.
